I have to really laugh at the people that say Crooked only drops punch line freestyles... these are the people that aren't listening. Crooked has a great collection of original concept songs.

I could care less what people will think of his album; because look at Slaughterhouse, that is an album no matter which way you slice it & people shitted on it. Blamed the "production". :D

Don't lie. You defend shit way too often to be someone who could care less. You get riled up very easily over other people's opinions. No one shitted on the album, they pointed out the production as a reason it wasn't as great as it could have been. Which is true.

Which is why I don't get why he needs original production for it to get hated on, when he can just use the best beats around lol.

So in other words you think rappers should just make albums using whatever beats are hot at the time. Don't be ludicrous. I know you would complain if another artist made a career out of doing that.

To me, he's already one of the best rappers of the day & I don't need an album to think it; his skills are just better than 99% of everybody else in the game today. That's Hip Hop, to me; just out-spitting people.

There was battle-rapping, there was no albums involved; just freestyling trying to diss each other, proving whose better.

If we have learned anything from hip hop becoming a music genre, it's that how well a rapper can freestyle has little to do with their status as a hip hop artist. You of all people should know that considering you hang out on a forum dedicated to west coast gangsta rap, a genre which isn't based around freestyling at all. Why is Ice Cube a legend when he can't freestyle for shit? (as far as I know) And 2Pac? The freestyles I've heard of his were never impressive.

Also, where did this "master-list" come into play anyway? If you and me made our GOAT lists, I'm sure we would have a few matching ones, but CERTAINLY not in the same order. Point being, why do we "need" to rate them? There is not one GOAT list by ANYBODY that has an credibility as "the perfect list" because everybody has a different opinion.

There's no master list and there's no perfect list. However, there are rappers that we can recognize because of their accomplishments, or because of their critical acclaim. Crooked I hasn't accomplished either. Again going back to other rappers, Nas without his albums wouldn't be anywhere near a greats list. Same goes for any other rapper. Why does this not apply for Crooked I?

Quote
So Crooked I is obviously last on your list, behind Soulja Boy, Gucci Mane & Plies, that's fine, he ranks higher for me, but I guess we're going to have to agree to disagree.

If you are bringing up Soulja Boy and Gucci Mane You still aren't listening to anything I'm saying. Those rappers that you listed put out their albums and failed. They sucked. That's the reason they are not good hip hop artists. I never said Crooked I was last on my list, he's just not one of the greats. I've never heard of a wack rapper dropping great albums. However there are quite a lot of good rappers who can't for the life of them drop great albums. That's the measuring stick I'm talking about. Nas, Pac, Ice Cube etc. are measured by their discographies, not how well they can freestyle on the mic. And that's what puts them above rappers like Papoose or  Crooked I who can't really be judged until they drop a few albums.

the internet has killed the CD sale industry

I disagree, and always have done. There are many artists out there who can still shift multi-platinum figures. It's the lack of genuine talent at the forefront of the industry that appears to be the problem. Label executives spent too much time (and money) puppeteering amateur acts into making that 1/2 pop hits on rushed, dull albums, while fronting money to dominate the air waves and TV, thus creating through out the years a lack of confidence in quality in top music put in front of us. More and more people want to download and "try before they buy" now, and have realized in the past number of years that the albums are no longer worth what they used to be and don't deserve their 15 bucks - hence why labels are routing out for 360 deals on artists to make money out of their losses, and plugging their videos full of advertisements. It's the industries fault their in the mess their in, not ours, not the internets, no one elses but their own.

Music is an art form, and to sell and pave the way for future interest and artists, it has to put out influential quality music that is somewhat timeless from talented individuals. Look in any store and the releases are either "best of" or "90's classics" - That's because they know that the music today is irrelevant, and ignored after 2 minutes, whereas a period where music was still quality orientated - is still sell-able to this day.

Give us quality, and put the same promotion they put behind a Justin Bieber, or Lil Wayne, and you'll see album sales increase I guarantee it
