Wesley Sneijder a prime candidate for Ballon d'Or‎
« on: July 06, 2010, 09:04:29 PM »

Inter Milan star Wesley Sneijder is being tipped for this year's Ballon d'Or.

Having won the Champions League, Serie A title and Coppa Italia with Inter, Sneijder is in the World Cup semi-final with Holland.

“Champagne this season for Sneijder after the triumphant Inter campaign and his excellent performance so far in the World Cup,” a France Football editorial declared, the paper that assigns the Ballon d'Or.

“He has been so impressive that the Dutchman becomes a prime candidate for the Ballon d’Or.

“Sneijder may not be the biggest nor the strongest player in the world, but this year everything he touches turns to gold.

“Not satisfied with the Inter Treble, he is back at work with Holland and until now has played perfectly.”

As a key player of a team who won the triple and reaches the world cup final he's a logical candidate.

One of my favourite players in world football. He's the star of my fantasy football team and the reason why I bet £80 on the Oranje to win the World Cup.

I hope he goes on to become a Dutch legend like Cryuff, Van Basten, Bergkamp...and so on.

He's a prime candidate, together with Villa and Schweinsteiger... anybody knows when the Ballon d'Or winner is elected? Before or after the Final? I know he gets announced after the Final, but the votes could go in before the Final.

Anyways, best new/young player: Müller, Golden Boot goes to either Villa, Sneijder or Klose
Cause I don't care where I belong no more
What we share or not I will ignore
And I won't waste my time fitting in
Cause I don't think contrast is a sin
No, it's not a sin

Schweinsteiger almost won the triple and was the best defensive mid-fielder in the WC by far. I don't think he'll win the trophy, though.

Honestly, apart from his five two goals he hasn't played particularly great this World Cup. Van Bommel is the better player (this WC at least) if you ask me.

assists and goals almost in every game.
