What do rappers do after they're done rapping?

I gotta bring it up.  And I do this cuz I'm interested in the bizness part of music.  First off I like Bishop so don't accuse me of being a hater.

What I'm wondering is what is the point of releasing all these mixtapes for free?  I mean yea they're good music, cool for the fans, but how does it get you further in your career?  Better yet how does it pay the bills?  Bishop isn't on a major is he?  If not, this means that he'll never be distributed and blow up unless he gets back to a major.  If we get all this music for free...how does he get paid?  A couple local shows here and here?

selling records isn't really how rappers make money

It's mostly the Touring and Merchandise.

CUBE got to be the stand alone on the West Coast when it comes to longevity and keepin your money right.  I know there is Dre, Snoop but CUBE is still relevant even if it is movies.  He got major dough.

Cube, Dre, 2pac (For his time) and Snoop are really the best West Coast businessmen men imo. Cube and 2pac had Movies (Which I thought was hypocritical that people never dissed 2pac for being a movie star. I guess the 2 kid movies is something people can't get passed considering how old Cube is.) Dre has Production Skills, new Artist to leech off of. Snoop has TV shows, Movies and other businesses (Sponsorships).

I think most rappers don't spend there money smart though. I mean if you see all the cats, it's only really the Big Names who are smart enough to invest.

Worse comes 2 Worse you've got a Danny Boy Situation where you can't make rent, and do Odd jobs.

PS: I think Bishop Made Money via Concerts, Guess Appearances, and he was probably taken care of via Dre or aftermath. Not paided, but like a place to live rent free or something (like an apartment possibly).

As for Crooked I seriously don't know what he does for cheese. I guess now he has Slaughter House merch, sells. But I wouldn't be amazed if he has a day job.

Yeah Bro, probably has to do with kid movies.  If he stayed as Doughboy on every film, some might be happy.  I never had a problem with Oshea doing that hustle cuz dude has a family, etc.  He need to keep it 100 with whats 100 with him which is family.  My problem is him not keepin it 100 with his previous homies.  Not slidin J-DEE some dough to help with his case is hoe shit to me.  People can say "that ain't his fault or biz" but the truth remains, you can't put a price on loyalty and having someone's back.  Bottom Line, some fans need to stop fantasizing that their favorite rappers are roamin the streets bangin on enemies day and night.  Few cats have come in the game and been 100 with the streets.  The only real killa I can think of who put an album out was SINISTER R.I.P.  Everyone else just doin a 9 to 5.

Here's why I don't get people complaining about Ice Cube's kid movies. The guy is in his 40s, he's married, a family man and he's a millionaire. Plus he's an "actor", ie he portrays characters that are not himself in movies. I don't see how making a movie for kids takes away any more of his credibility than his age and lifestyle already does.

Rappers dont make money really.  When they do get it most invest in things, some big some small but most invest in something just good enuf to keep em on their feet.  Suga Free got pimpin and BG sells drugs or he used to, same wit all dem Hb niggaz, Wayne included.  but im pretty sure theres a broke nigga or two out there.
