Revisiting Kanye West "Late Registration"...

Did "College Dropout" we dubbed it a classic (some of y'all said it was overrated though lol). Now it's time for the sophomore effort..

1. Wake Up Mr. West - N/A
2. Heard 'Em Say - 4.25/5. Intro beat goes well into this. Was a single. Always liked this joint. Adam Levine was an interesting and good choice.
3. Touch the Sky - 4.5/5. Also used as a single. This beat is classic. Introduced Lupe Fiasco who killed it too (to me at least). love it!

4. Gold Digger - 5/5. Classic mainstream single. Fuck what y'all heard. This shit jammed then and it jams now. Beat is crazy. Hilarious/great verses. Jamie Foxx killed the hook too.
5. Skit 1 - N/A. Again great Kanye skit that is album flowing material.
6. Drive Slow - 4/5. Great beat. Paul Wall was an interesting collabo choice but it works. GLC was good too. Kanye had the best verse of course.

7. My Way Home - 4.25/5 Always loved it & wondered why it was so short. So soulful. Common killed it. Would be a 5/5 if it was longer. I enjoy it like a 5/5 song. Know that!
8. Crack Music - 4/5. Beat is dope. Love the girls in the background. Hook is cool. Soulful hook singer comes in midway and fits it. Game should have had a verse.
9. Roses - 4/5 Beat is dope. Eerie talking about his mom saying she can die anyway. The beat drops with the female voice in the back and it's nuts. Great album cut.

10. Bring Me Down - 3.75/5. Kanye talkin' his shit on here. Beat is tight. Brandy is good here too. One of more the forgettable tracks but still a great song I thoroughly enjoy.
11. Addiction - 3.25/5. Beat is cool. I dunno though. Something about this song is the worst on the album to me. Wonder if y'all enjoy it as little as I do.
12. Skit #2 - N/A.

13. Diamonds Remix - 5/5. Always loved the original and remix. Leave it up to Kanye to rap on a topic like this. Cuts into Jay-z verse so well. He killed this shit too. Legend!
14. We Major - 5/5. Dope beat! Really Doe starts it and kills it. Ain't that type of "good hook" track. Kanye verse tight too. Nas comes last and wrecks it. Best on the album.
15. Skit 3 - N/A.

16. Hey Mama - 4/5. Very personal track to Kanye now of course. Real stories right here.
17. Celebration - 3.25/5. Again, kind of a forgettable track to me.
18. Skit 4 - N/A.

19. Gone - 4.5/5. This albums "Spaceship" as for the vibe. Very soulful. Kanye had a dope verse. Glad to have heard Cam'Ron on this track. Consequence was really tight too.
20. Diamonds - 5/5. Weird decision to have the remix sequenced before the original. But also a classic track.
21. Late - 4/5. Very soulful. Lovin the high pitched voice in the background. Good album's closer. Goes with the album theme perfectly too. Great album closer.

Overall: 8.7/10

Not as good as "College Dropout" but a very good sophomore album. Even better than your typical "good" hip-hop album. If College Dropout is a 9/10, this is an 8.5. It's just a little behind College Dropout IMO.

LOVE THIS ALBUM.

It's better than College Dropout to me.

Favorite tracks are "Gone", "Roses", "Bring Me Down", "Diamonds" & "Dear Mama".

Love just about everything on this album though.

Yes. Both are classics IMO, but LG is the better one.

The production is better on LG.
CD had one skipper ("Breathe In, Breathe Out"), whereas LG has none.
"My Way Home" is one of the best tracks ever made.

Gold Digger is one of those tracks... At the time it was out and even after that you heard it everywhere: on tv, in the club, on the streets, on the radio and in everyday conversations.

I couldn't stand that song anymore, but these days the only place I hear it is in the car. I'm not gonna lie: that track is bananas.

, I  usually skip  Heard em say , Bring me down and Diamonds as I dont see the point of putting it after the Remix ...

Breathe In, Breathe Out is my least favorite song out of both albums. But The College Dropout's best songs are straight up classics to me, while Late Registration's best songs are great but not on the same level.

this one might just be a personal classic for me, "We Major" and "Diamonds" are the 2 classic tracks for me off this and I also really liked "Heard Em Say" and "Drive Slow"
