Daz Dillinger, 1992-2010

if u compare Daz Dillinger wit Dat Nigga Daz from the early 90's - there's a huge difference.
out of all the DPG's, i think Daz stepped up and postiively evolved as a rapper and performer. Daz is the only one that shines on all the DPG-songs nowadays. Kurupt sounds lazy and slurs out his words like an alcohoic, like he's falling asleep in the mic-booth. Same wit Snoop..
Daz matches all the instrumentals perfectly - and Kurupt tends to rap offbeat and fucked-up.
tho Daz still writes the typical "daz-rhymes", but he was never on that lyricist-shit anyway..

It's kinda funny. Back in the 90's, Daz was the weakest link in Dogg Pound - now he is the strongest.. nigga can even sing..

you could compare Daz & Kurupt - wit Al Pacino and Robert De Niro in a way. Al Pacino continued to evolve with his craft - while Robert De Niro became a lacklustre shadow of what he once was...

dont get me wrong, im still checking for Kurupt-verses and new Kurupt-songs frequently, im still a big fan - but im entitled to my opinion.. no hate..

I don't think so.... Daz had way better rhymes back then (Bitchez ain't shit) than he does today.  Also Daz releases Quantity, not Quality.  He releases waaaaay too much shit, same with Kurupt.  The rhymes become stale and I haven't listened to an album of theirs for awhile.

I think they have run out of shit to rap about imo....  all of them.  And no, Daz hasn't evolved at all, neither has Kurupt or Snoop.  Kurupt had some nice songs on his last album (Yessir) but not many.

nobody in DPG evolved for the better

Daz's best raps in his career were on "initiated" and "this life i lead" with 2pac back in 1996

Yep I agree, if your still rappin about Bitchez Ain't Shit 18 years later you haven't evolved at all.  Kurupt was good because he was lyrical, and he could talk about the same shit in a lot of different ways creatively.

I would disagree with you on Daz's best raps but everyone has different taste ......

so they're all rappin about bullshit... thing is tho, it shouldn't be considered that imprtant to evaulate a rappers talent, depending on the lyrics.. i guess, it is.. but if u put dat a side - Daz is a better rapper/performer than what Kurupt is today.. he has "presence" on his songs.
he is talented, he's just rappin about bullshit. no recordlabel ever offered Kurupt, a great contract before.
Suge swooped him up after his dpg-departure, but that was only to piss Snoop & dpg off. that was his motive..
Jermaien Dupri and his million-dollar empire So So Def, on the other hand, gave Daz a chance- cus they believed in him as a performer..

i think Daz is very underrated.
imagine him rappin lyrics, written by an intelligent person.. lol

that's the thing...daz isn't an intelligent person nor is he even close to one.  he'll never expand his style.  Daz's best role when it comes to vocals is being a hype man.  he's great behind the boards (or was) but i haven't heard him drop a dope verse in years

and he had the only bad verse on the entire All Eyez On Me album where he nearly ruined Got My Mind MAde Up :D

Yea he has presence, I'll give him that.  He actually makes me laugh sometimes out loud with the shit he comes up with.  Stuff like Youz Just a Bitch and songs like that are hilarious.
He was underrated I agree but not anymore.  His time has passed and sometimes these guys start to kill their legacy when they keep releasing mediocre if not terrible shit.  If you go back one day and see he has released 10 albums and only 3 of them were really good, then you fuck it up right?  I'm comparing to if you release 5 albums and 3 are really good, 2 are so so.  Which is better for your career and legacy?

Dogg Chit, Cali Iz Active album, etc.... horrible.  I stopped getting my hopes up after that.

Yup, you hit the nail on the head.  That is exactly it, he is an awesome hype and has a clever punch line here and there.  That is his "presence."

No, no hate at all, just criticism.  Don't get it twisted.  I got tonnes of DPG shit and listened to their songs thousands of times.  There is good and there is bad, just like most artisits out there.

I'll use Biggie as an example.  Everyone was saying (maybe even still) he was the best of the New York MCees.  He has two classic albums, but those were also the only two albums he had.  The shit that got released after his death, like Pac's, got so so reviews.

Would he still be as dope if he had 7 albums?  Who knows right?  As for DPG their early shit was amazing... RAW, Streetz is a Mutha, Space Boogie, Dillenger and Young Gotti, etc.  ALso Daz is/was a dope producer.  I just think putting out mass quantities of songs has affected them...
