I wouldn't say he's under-rated, more like forgotten. Dude had one of the biggest singles of 95, but a long time has passed since then and he's become quieter and quieter. And somewhere in between he's singing the theme song to Kenan and Kel :P.

I totally agree. Coolio was so massive in 95, and damn i played that It takes a thief cassette to death that summer. Gangstas Paradise was one of the first cds i ever bought and the 12" of Too Hot was in constant rotation. It was also first time i ever heard Kam, E-40 and WC. The thing i remember was coolio being interviewed a lot about his calling women bitches and being asked if he was a real gangsta. The dude was just a nice guy who made good music. There was so much shit talked about being a fake gangsta that made him seem uncool at the time. Anyway in 96 the when the Fugees blew up i think he missed a good chance of a 3rd great album and lost out. Plus that shit bout his private life didn't help. Gangstas Paradise is a beautifully produced album in my opinion and the great part is that every tune is a memorable song.:)

Woa- meetin coolio. That's some cool shit on the real. I think Gangstas Paradise had some great collaborative writing on the album. I love the fact that coolio was down with guys like WC, DJ Crazy Toones E-40 and Kam. That's some heavyweight rap royalty right there. I'd ask him how the album was conceptualized, and how the writing and production was done. Did they feel they were making a classic cross over album- reachin out to real music and pop fans too without sellin out on some Skee-lo type shit. Is he still cool with LV and what happened to a follow up to that anthemic track:) oh, and any leftovers from the recording sessions (if the album was recorded in one hit):)

this forum masturbates to other rappers who have not had a hit single since 1995....don't see the difference ;)

nah on the real Coolio was pretty dope, I always loved his work with Rated R of Thug Life

This guy aint no crip, and I'm 100% sure on that because he doesn't type like a crip, I know crips, and that fool is not a crip.
