I totally agree. Coolio was so massive in 95, and damn i played that It takes a thief cassette to death that summer. Gangstas Paradise was one of the first cds i ever bought and the 12" of Too Hot was in constant rotation. It was also first time i ever heard Kam, E-40 and WC. The thing i remember was coolio being interviewed a lot about his calling women bitches and being asked if he was a real gangsta. The dude was just a nice guy who made good music. There was so much shit talked about being a fake gangsta that made him seem uncool at the time. Anyway in 96 the when the Fugees blew up i think he missed a good chance of a 3rd great album and lost out. Plus that shit bout his private life didn't help. Gangstas Paradise is a beautifully produced album in my opinion and the great part is that every tune is a memorable song.

I wouldn't say he's under-rated, more like forgotten. Dude had one of the biggest singles of 95, but a long time has passed since then and he's become quieter and quieter. And somewhere in between he's singing the theme song to Kenan and Kel .
