Daz new style vs. old style
« on: November 17, 2010, 10:02:07 AM »
I've been a Daz fan since he arrived on the scene in 90's....and still am.  He started out dropping some "Smooth" tracks, and now has a more "Hard" track style.  Let's not forget the "Diggy Daz" from the old days.  I think he should revisit those old albums, and come up something similar to switch it up.  I like his hard music, but would like to hear something like the old Daz again.  Yeah I know, times change.  But we have rappers like The Game that drop some old school joints still, and they work.  One track I bump is "Roll wit us" off that Chronic 2000 album DR put out.  That's a smooth beat, and Daz just flows over that thing.  "What Would You Do", "In California", the list goes on.

Daz still has the voice and lyrics, just think he needs a new/old sound and a smooth album in the future.  As for Kurupt, I had to give up on him.  If you listen to his new stuff, the lyrics don't even make sense.  Torpedo--Flying high--Nuclear bomb--Napalm, what is up with all this?  What happened to my man.  He jumps on the track and doesn't even keep the subject of the song.  I still listen to a select few of his new tracks, but overall, damn he needs some help.  The last DPG album was tight, but again Kurupt just starts going all over the place.  Daz keeps it down, and makes sense.

No disrespect, I'm just giving my opinion.  Hopefully Daz reads this and can do a track or album like his old days.  You got full support out here on 7 mile in Detroit Daz.

Daz is a legend.  He's made some classic joints, and his production used to be platinum sellers.  He still keeps it real, and hopefully can keep dropping some new music.  I'm just saying I'm more of a fan of his older tracks, and wish he would throw that vibe back in.  His new beats have more of a "ting" to them, not the smooth tracks with bass and stuff.  If you put Daz behind a big budget, he would blow up again.  For now, we will just enjoy him releasing his other albums to his fans.

Kurupt has not used those complex clumsy lyrics like that in a minute. Definitely not on Streetlights.

Lyrically Daz can be very simple and recycled at times but when focused he can still bring it. Beats wise he still got it.

I agree.  He made his mark in the west.

As for JD, that was a bum deal.  Had some nice tracks, but the promo was messed up.  Daz will tell you that.  That "Money on my Mind" or something like that was tight with Kurupt.

Streetlights had about 4 songs I liked, but overall was messy.  Kurupt is a whole different thread, I shouldn't have brought that up.  But those 4 tracks he did well with the lyrics.  His Streetz Is A Mutha, and Space Boogy were classics.  Lets get Fred Wreck back and Daz, Battlecat.  It worked, stick with it.
