It was a friendly but both teams fielded there best rosters and seemed to play seriously and care about the game.

Since our idiot coach has left, we've played awesome.

We pressured there midfield. That was key. U can't let that Spain midfield get comfortable. You're toast if u do. We didn't and they were scattered the whole game. Ronaldo was robbed of a highlight reel goal

not sure what happened here but portugal sux big time when it matters...i think they just took this game way more seriously than spain and cuz of the rivalry they had something to prove.

and ur right, worst thing u can do is let spain hold the ball and control midfield, they will kill u with short passes...u gotta press them and throw them out of their game, biggest mistake germany made in WC was letting spain dictate the game

And they hardly suck in major tourneys. 2nd in Euro 04 and 4th in World Cup 06. Lost to the eventual runner ups in Euro 08 & lost to the eventual WC champs in 2010. They've been much better than powerhouses like England and Argentina in these last few major tourneys

Aren't you French? Mentioning diving is quite ironic when Henry dived versus us in World Cup 06 to win a penalty that got u to the finals. And diving is cheating, is there a bigger cheater than Henry the way he got France to a pathetic 2010 World Cup?

Yeah, this is true. We were way to passive that game,  they really had a bad day. It seemed like they had too much repect. But I'm pretty confident Germany can beat Spain and will win one of the next tournaments. If only a few of the talents we have  blow up, we'll have a crazy team for the next decade.

That's true. Portugal has played a good role the last 10-15 years. Not good enough for the best teams, but still a challenge and way better than teams like England. Their only problem was that they always lacked a good striker, which is still a problem to this day.  But apart from a few exceptions like Ronaldo, the new generation still has to prove if they can hold against their 'golden generation'.

Germany should have a very good team indeed

Exactly, Portugal have been great the last 10-15 years. I forgot to mention a semi-final appearance in 2000 Euro. That's two semi final appearances in 2000 & 2006 and a finals appearance in 2004. So to me, we are a powerhouse team, definitely a top 7 in the world. We've always lacked a striker and that's still a problem. Our best bet is to ride whichever striker is in form at the moment (like we did vs Spain with Helder Postiga who scored 2 goals).

I wish this team can enter one tournament healthy. The Spain world cup game may have been different with a healthy Nani

before WC 2002 they were non-existant so that statement is not true


and their opponents havent been much of a danger, they would win in penalties or 1-0 they have hardly been a dangerous team to fear...their only win  this last world cup was 7-0 over north korea

U say before 2002 they were non-existent but they went to the semi finals in Euro 2000 actually

I said last "few" tourneys - 04,06,08,10 - Last 4 tournaments.

In 04 they defeated England & Holland in a major tourney..Same in 06..

They had a difficult group with Ivory Coast & Brazil..and tied both 0-0.. They were one of few teams to enter the elimination stage without allowing a single goal.
