When I was working as a waiter in a restaurant this kid named Marc Kempf came up to me one day and asked me if I liked hip hop. I said yeah and he said that he had started a hip hop magazine and that he would bring in a copy for me to check out.
The next time I saw Marc he had his "hip hop magazine" which was nothing more than a large piece of paper folded in half with the logo of the magazines name on the cover......I have to say that when Marc said he started a hip hop magazine I was thinking it was going to be like the Source so I wasn't very impressed
first off fuck eminem's "discovery" or whatever people call it. Its a joke is what it is. He was spoon fed his career pretty much while others say nipsey hussle or I can go on have put in work for years and just now gettin attention. WITH that bein said, this is the truth out of this same era where he hadnt been signed.ICP has this concert at st. andrews hall. If ur anybody in hip hop in detroit, or pretty much michigan, you have done a show at st. andrews hall. Anyways, after the show, this kid runs up to ICP and is all handin out flyers. Okay I pulled out my ICP official book wrote by ICP so lemme preach. It reads: One kid in particular came up to me and gave me a flyer. It read, EP Release Party, blah blah blah. Featuring appearances by Esham, Kid Rock, and ICP (maybe). That pissed me off. Why was this kid givin me a flyer that advertised our name with a maybe after it? What kind of bullshit was that? he might as well put featuring fuckin madonna. Who knows, Right? So I asked the kid, why do you have our name on this flyer? The kid said, It says maybe. Maybe you will be there, I dont know. Thats why im asking you right now. You guys comin to my ep release party or what? Fuck no, I aint comin to your party. We might have, if you wouldve asked us first, before puttin us on the fuckin flyer like this. We dont even know who the fuck you are, so dont be tryin to trick juggalos into thinking weel be there. That was that and we parted ways. Who was that kid? yup, you guessed it. Who would have ever known what would all become of that one ninety second encounter? That was the first and last time I have ever met the future superstar Eminem face to face. He wasnt even famous yet, not even signed, just promoting his songs, and he was allready pullin bitch tactics.

cuz he's white? thats why they wouldnt sign him? What about all the successful white rappers in say, 1998. Necro been around since 89, has his own label. R.A. the rugged man. B Real from cypress. 3rd Bass, bloodhound gang, house of pain. Kid Rock before he became a rocker style. The mothafuckin beastie boys on def jam. ICP started in 90, have their own label, sub label, movies ect. Half Breed. Kottonmouth Kings. Twiztid. Yes there might not have been a superstar, but white rappers was gettin over before his ass came along. As far as his discovery, dude it was very short the work he put in compared to others. Also, who has their shit played for dr. dre then he gets at you when they first mixtape/ep or whatever hits the street? Thats like winning the lottery. Snoop and Em, thats about it that just from the jump had that spotlight set on them by dre and it blew up. Others didnt work out so great, like knoccturnal and such. I dont think it has much to do with color.
for havin their book I fail? You just dont get the wicked shit. They have 2 platinum albums and 4 gold. They hold the record "or did last I checked" with a hip hop album being listed in the billboard 200 the longest in consecutive weeks with 1997's the great milenko. If u hate them fine. They have 2 movies, which they wrote and did most of the acting. ICP just signed the dayton family to their 2nd label which has Axe murder boyz, dj clay, and others already successful. They have the 3rd biggest pro wrestling fcompany in the usa. Their label psychopathic is very successful and has Blaze, Twiztid, among others. ONly 2 groups I know that had no video/radio play and got so big is 1. N.w.a. and 2. ICP. They are underground legends, self made. Plus not many are in the game period as long as they are, and they cornered the market of band merchandise before others even had a skully hat for sale. They own their own studio. What more needs to be said? They are very successful, and have been so for a long long time. You dont have to be a fan of theirs to read the book by the way, its good on its own. Thru grit and determination they made it despite all the haters. Thats to be respected. Bone thugs, Ice T, three six mafia, lots of people you wouldnt think are down with them ARE. Check the sippin on some sizzurp video, they wearin ICP's gear in that shit.
wait a minute ICP has BOOKS? Quote from: Anunikke on November 30, 2010, 11:42:43 PMYou fail for having an icp book
