John Payne and Sam Sneed DR Project
« on: December 01, 2010, 04:10:40 PM »
I emailed John Payne about the Sam Sneed project containing responses on the other thread and he said this back..

Quote
It is Sam's project
we allowed him complete control

Does that mean other artists had control of what tracks they put on?

I was thinking of doing the same. Good for you. Now, what is the best way for us all to get Sam's attention on the matter?

EDIT: You should email John Payne back and ask us how we can get in touch with Sam.

Facebook. I talked to him on there a couple months ago and he said it would be half old shit/ half new. But I guess that has changed.

Lol no that wasn't what I was talking about but I can't say I would be against it.  ;)

I was meaning so we could let him know we want to see more of the death row material than what is currently planned. He might actually listen.

I know how the actual ARTIST feels means nothing to you guys, but don't you think, that as long as Sam is putting out what he wants, then that is fine? It is HIS project, and HE is in control of it, so let him release the album that HE wants. Seriously, this isn't like the Crooked I or Snoop releases, where the artist wasn't in control. The man has waited a long while to release and album, and I for one am happy for him. If you wanna fault him after the album comes out for wack tracks, go ahead. But first lets see what he puts out.

I'm posting this in 2 Sneed threads, just cuz I feel the attitude coming from some of yall is kinda wack.

sam is handling all his mixing and mastering..
as far as other releases, snoops was mastered by brian big bass gardner
all mixes were mixed by the original dr engineers
our engineers only diigitized the masters
all master were taken from m the original 1/2" analog reels or master dats
so that is bullshit about the mixes and master and alleged mp3copies
all other mastering was certified as correct by AES audio engineering society
you bought into that forum hate shit by hyland and his boss

Here is the problem though. Sam is the artist. He doesn't have to give you shit. And you don't have to buy it. A chef working for a restaurant is bound to prepare what is on the menu. An artist should make what he wants, and release what he wants. It is his art. If artists put out what they "think" the fans like, then thats the first problem. That's why most of these dudes are washed up. They release things that they hope will sell, rather than what they think is good. If Sam thinks the best product he can put out is on this album, I'll believe him. It is his legacy.

He doesn't work at Burger King, he is an artist. Therefore he can do what he wants.

I agree with this.  I am very disappointed that we only get 2 new unreleased tracks, and I would no question about it rather hear the old sam sneed vs the new sam sneed, however I completely agree with this guy.

i'd give the newer material a chance tho, as far as to my knowledge (and the general consensus with everybody including excluding myself and members of dubcc) Sam Sneed has never released a wack beat.  Also his "Golden Child" era tracks aren't horrible either.  i know what you mean tho but i'm sure we'll get it before it's all said and done with with Sam Sneed.

you missed my whole point g...people heard sam sneed and death row in the same sentence...but were not getting what that was suppose to mean...you can see how we feel cheated right? so in that sense, just like sneed doesnt give a fuck about what we want in your argument, i dont give a fuck about anyhting else he does but that death row record.....but it aint even that serious....i'll give him the benefit of the doubt..i'll peep it and give it a chance...
