Has a rap album EVER received praise like MBDTF?

I'm still digesting Kanye's latest, but the accolades its getting is straight up incredible.  It seems like Hiphop fans are disappointed, while fans of just about every other genre are loving it...

Fantastic album. But kinda lost replay value. Can't really point to the factor but maybe it's too little songs that are too long ?

After first few bumps I really didnt feel the album, I mean it was ok,  but  damn lately its getting better and better and it deserves to be praised like this. For example I cant stop bumpin Runaway, specially Pusha T part.

Its not my favourite Ye album...but in fact its growing on me.  I see more replay value in it now than at first.   I got sick of it quick, took a few weeks off, then went back to it.

I'm saying though, regardless of our thoughts, has a rap album ever got praise like this outside of hiphop?   Love Below?   I can't remember it ever happening really

Stankonia was pretty close too, but neither really have had this type of impact.

Those are the only three songs I can still bump on a regular basis; the rest lost replay value.

Great album, his 4th best Hip Hop album though.

its genius record that appeals to non hip-hop listeners because it went beyond the normal scope of rap music. thats why. it wasnt just another 20 track album of beats n rhymes

I could agree maybe.  Like the poster below said, less (or no) sites reviewed back then.   

But really, in the age of the internet, what other hiphop album, or album of ANY genre, has gotten praise across the board like this???

i think the last artist to get this praise was eminem, but college dropout got a lot of praise too, no?

I personally don't feel anybody since Eminem has gotten the same praise as Eminem; except maybe Lil' Wayne.

& honestly, all these magazines give it great reviews, but as far as people go, people aren't going nuts over this. I bump the radio & I don't hear much off the album.
