Open to the public.

LONG BEACH — The funeral service for Nathaniel Dwayne Hale, best known by the stage name Nate Dogg, will be Saturday at the Long Beach Cruise Terminal, the former Spruce Goose Dome adjacent to the Queen Mary.

The Long Beach rap singer died March 15 after a long health battle in the wake of strokes in 2007 and 2008. He was 41.

The 10 a.m. Saturday service will be open to the public, said his sister Pamela Hale-Burns, a reporter for the Press-Telegram. There will be strict security at doors. No cameras will be allowed.

Viewing for the singer will be Friday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at New Hope Baptist Church, 1160 New York St., also in Long Beach. No cameras will be allowed at the viewing, Hale-Burns said. A funeral repast for the public will be at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Dome.

Hale was born to a family of gospel singers and raised in Long Beach. At Poly High School, he began performing rap music with Warren G. and Snoop Dogg, who were lifelong friends.

Hale provided the singing that undergirded numerous rap songs such as "Regulate," the Grammy-nominated song he recorded with Warren G., "The Chronic" with Dr. Dre and countless collaborations with some of the biggest names in rap and hip-hop.

Overall Hale had four Grammy nominations for songs on which he either collaborated or was part of a group.

As a child, Hale performed with his sister and their brother Samuel in a trio formed by their mother, Ruth Holmes. The group sang at churches in Mississippi and California.

At the time he suffered the stroke, Hale had returned to those roots and had formed a choir called Innate Praise.

Hale's family has received condolences from his fans across the country and in other nations such as Italy, Ireland and Czechoslovakia, said his sister, Pamela Hale-Burns.

To manage the volume of communications, Hale-Burns opened her Facebook to the public short-term and was using Twitter.

"We appreciate all the words of encouragement and all the thoughts and prayers they have been sending our way," Hale-Burns said.

"Remember my brother for what he loved - doing his music."

The funeral arrangements for late hip-hop crooner Nate Dogg have been revealed and and a benefit ceremony for the West Coast artist will also take place this weekend.

Details on the funeral's proceedings and who will be allowed to attend are now public.

The crooner is tentatively set to be laid to rest this Saturday with a ceremony preceding the event at the Long Beach Airport, which will be open to fans, according to the family friend. The next day, another tentative event is in the works: a memorial benefit at the Los Angeles Convention Center hosted by DJ Quik. (MTV)
Although cameras will not be allowed inside the ceremony, the funeral is open to fans.

(Contra Costa Times)
The late singer's family are also taking donations.

While an official cause of death has not yet been revealed, Dogg's family believes it was in relation to medical complications.

Nate Dogg's family believes the singer's death was caused by complications stemming from the two strokes he suffered over the past couple of years ... this according to the singer's close friend and manager Rod McGrew. McGrew tells TMZ ... Nate's death was unexpected ... since he was making significant progress in his recovery from the most recent stroke he suffered in 2008. According to McGrew ... Nate was "95% recovered from the first stroke in 2007" ... when the second stroke occurred in 2008 ... leaving Nate partially paralyzed and causing partial memory loss. But McGrew says Nate had "cognitively fully recovered" -- meaning he got his memory back and was fully alert and aware all the way up to his final days. (TMZ)

Just to clarify:  The funeral will be at the Long Beach Cruise Terminal (the former Spruce Goose Dome), adjacent to the Queen Mary.  It will NOT be at the Long Beach airport as MTV is reporting.

Even though cameras aren't allowed, I hope there will be pictures of the rappers that are attending.

If you get in a fight, and somebody yells “worldstar”. You better fight for your life.
