Crooked's release wasn't an album though.

no matter what you say. but this month was huge for west coast rap with the records from WC, Snoop and E-40. Tragically all of them have been overshadowed by the loss of Nate D-O-Double G! That's what I can say. I really like these 3 (well 4 since 40 dropped two) records but I can't really praise them because I was bumping Nate Dogg's stuff on a daily and this shit is a stand out to me. I guess I will celebrate those new records when I'm over it. What you guys gotta understand is that these records got a different style and direction. 40 kept it unbelievably real on his one, real mob music, bass'd out and still with some sick flows and lyrics that no one else can come up with. WC dropped a very west coasted out record, very straight forward and hard hitting. He proved that he's still a factor on the coast and it was a real plus that he didn't let Cube handle him the hooks. Snoop surprised me. Haven't expected him to drop a such musically diverse record, with no really wack song. You can argue that the record has its ups n downs, maybe some more or less boring cuts, but really no plain wack song. And I don't accept any hate towards "Wet" - this shit is awesome, something new for Snoopy and with a hypnotizing bass pattern that knocks hard in the trunk. In addition he got so many dope features on this one. I really dig the Gorillaz cut where he immitates that reggae style at the beggining, shit is dope!

All of them put out good music, it also seems that they at last stopped dreaming about high numbers and just did what they wanted to do. Does anyone know if Snoop's new record comes on Priority records again? I hope I can appreciate these records more when I'm somehow finished with my daily Nate Dogg appreciation.

Oh and while we're speaking about the album of the month, don't forget Terrace Martin's Sex EP which was dope as well! Plus it was for free! Although Nate Dogg died we gonna have a big year for the west coast, just think about next month when Del, Quik and maybe Dre drop their new shit.
