Nice memories.. thanks for posting, I'd never seen that promo before.   In the time it came out it was a considered a Flop by critics, however the album did enter the charts at #1 and sold platinum.  By today's watered down standards of hip-hop that shit was a classic.  "Phone Tap" was an instant classic even in those times, Canibus' feature on there was blazing, and there were a few other cuts on there that people really liked.

You know what would of been great is if Nas would of done a solo album on Aftermath with Dre in that time instead of the Firm project.  It was clear Dre and Nas have always had a nice relationship, but if you listen to Dre talk about Foxy he was basically like, "Well I only worked with her for a couple hours, total."   Foxy was fine as hell in those days, and she was kind of dope, but her and Nature weren't really on Nas level... a duo album with AZ might of worked, cause Nas and AZ have great chemistry and AZ can hold his own, as Dre almost compared him to Nas in that interview.

i agree. Nas + AZ + Dre more involved vocally-wise. i've got "Everyday Thing" in my mind, they've done a great job on this one. i think that album would sound much better if theyd took that route... it is what it is though.

Nature was on everyday thing, not AZ

I think Nature did his thing. Its just everyone was expecting Cormega and they got another guy no one knew about.

Honestly I think it was the type of music they were making. Everyone expected some super lyrical supergroup to blow them away and instead they made a mafioso album when mafioso music was going out of style.

when mafioso music was going out of style.

When was mafioso music in style to begin with? It was a concept album that really hadn't been done yet.

As far as to why the album flopped, you can put that one on Trackmasters. The Dre tracks were consistent; the other tracks were all over the place (excluding "Desperados" and "Executive Decision"). "Firm Biz" shouldn't have been on the album; only reason it was on was because it fit with what Puffy was doing.

Thanks for the video!

The Firm album is a unique piece of work that got wayyyy to much hate.

I think of it as a flawed masterpiece, which is no big shame! 8)

"The Firm" had a couple of classics on it, but overall it was weak. I wonder how much leftover material is out there?

I have these songs that ain't on the album.

- "Desperados" (Original Version)
- "Firm Vs The State"
- "Time"
- "Progress"
- "4 In Tha Mornin"

Also i got some unreleased version of "La Familia", Cormega is featured on it i think.
