Doc Rivers.

Sucks.

He coached that team when they had one of the worst records in their teams history. Then gets three Hall of Famers, a superstar of a PG & a deep bench & wins. Nothing special. So overrated.

So annoying.

No coach is going to have success with scrubs , I think he's a pretty good coach and draw some good plays to use his players strenghts , especially down the stretch ( the results are average because C's are often running out of the gas ) ... Tibo was the mastermind behind the defensive schemes though ... and he confirmed his talents by turning the Bulls into a defensive monster ...Tibo learned under JVG ( a great defensive coach) as an assistant with NY

The only important mistake Rivers made in this series is matching Miami small ball unit , especially in the 4th Q in Game 4... I didn't like the lineup of Rondo-West-Allen-Pierce - KG ... he should have put an injured and non shooting threat Rondo on the bench and stay with JO-KG in the paint , they wouldn't have missed key defensive rebounds and then you have a good mismatch on the other end with J Jones on Pierce

Just wondering so if Spolestra and the Heat win the title he should be overrated too right?

Naturally. That will be LeBron & Wade's doing. But I don't think the media will hype him up like they do Doc.

The hell they won't. He will damn near be considered the new "Zen" coach massaging all those egos and coaching them to a championship.

With Doc, he always had Pierce, Rondo was NOT a superstar PG his first year or so in the league. There was talks of trading him at one time. Allen and Garnett granted they got via trade and were veterans so yeah they bought into Doc's anti hero ball speech so I think Doc deserves some of that acclaim.

I gotta agree with Cham about the hype thing. D might end up being right, but I don't think the media will hype Spol like they have Doc.

But for the record, I do think Doc is MUCH better than Spol anyways. I think Doc basically deserves the hype. He actually created an offense/defense system that worked. Spol just lets LeBron & Wade coach lol

Personnel > Schemes. A coachless Celtics team could have made the playoffs since they came together.

Playoffs don't mean shit. Championship or bust is what matters and those guys didnt win shit on their other teams. It takes a damn good coach to motivate and buy into schemes and plays for players and Doc does that. Heat did not buy into Eric's plans at first and look at how much they were fucking up.

Mike Brown was inches away. But ever if Coach K & Phil Jackson came together & coached that Cavs team, they weren't beating the Spurs.

Point being what? Let's put it like this. Phil for example, the Lakers basically had the same team that Phil took over before he got there. They did not win shit with Del Harris. With Phil= 5 rings. When and where is it acceptable then to start giving Phil some credit for that.

Point being that one player carried Brown all the way to the Finals. Then lack of talent outside of LeBron lost it from there.

On that '97-'98 team, Kobe averaged nine PPG lol. The next year the season was shortened & they lost to the Spurs; Kobe only averaging 20. Then Kobe started averaged nearly 30 along with Shaq & they won rings.

That's why Phil took off that one year a few years ago. He knew it was just going to look bad for his resume. He didn't have the players.

Seriously Cham you're just trolling at this point. On one hand you're basically saying "coaches don't mean shit, regardless who is coaching, the players do everything" and then you turn around and say "Coach X is overrated or Coach Y sucks"... what the fuck is this, nigga? How can certain coaches suck if they are just standing there anyways? If it doesn't matter and all coaches are the same, why even talk about if a certain coach is good or trash?

Exactly. There is a reason why the elite coaches are winning titles and the bum ass ones are not. And talent most of the time is not the reason why.

Look at first year coach Larry Drew on the Hawks. Basically the exact same team they had last year yet the playoff run has been great
