His group is signed to shady, he's doing alright

lol dont doesnt ensure anything.

I'd call that an "advance in his career" as you said. I hope Kendrick and crooked work together that would be dope. K dot is still the dopest new cat on the west atm and top dawg have a sick roster

Crooked has a career and had a torch? Have I missed something?

Someones hitting the torch is they think Crooked has a career.......Top ten rapper.....no money:(

i already said i ment as the top mc on the west coast, im not talking about their careers in money and album sales etc etc.

crooked has been the hottest cat on the west coast, now its kendrick

Who gave Crooked his torch though?

IMO Crooked only recently got lyrical, back when he was on Death Row he was rapping about the same gangbang shit that everyone else rapped about. One who's been repping the west lyrically would be Blu or Murs...
He raps about different topics now but the way he put his rhymes together & his flow were much better back then.

so if he raps about gangbang shit hes not lyrical, lol hes been lyrical, thats him thats why he was so hyped up.

lol blu and murs cant really step, their dope no doubt, but lol cmon dude u comparing him to crooked?

yea he was younger, hungrier, and more raw back then, but who isnt when their young? because that what kendrick is right now

thats why him being that "nigga" on the westcoast is passing, he hasnt put out anything for the past decade, and if he does it would never live up to its original hype.

i mean i say this because kendrick is juz wow, i do think he needs support on this forum because hes so overlooked for some odd reason. i havnt realized it because usually out of this place kendrick is already that nigga.

Crooked I's best opportunity came with the Untouchable album. Year 2000, a time when the West was certainly not known for it's lyrical ability. It was a perfect way for the West to come out with a new unconventional style for them, and for him to make a healthy name for himself. Gold was easily achievable for him back then..

His 2nd, and last opportunity IMO came when he was getting good buzz with magazines, and the Boom Boom Clap video.. He's been at it too long now, and although he's had some career highlights - Hip Hop Weekly, Slaughterhouse, etc. Crooks had a lot of low points, such as releasing too many mixtapes, and as a result too many mixtape quality tracks degrading the overall quality of his catalogue. His constant disapproval, aspirations of big numbers, and holding back from "decent" opportunities has caused most of his own fan base to loose all confidence in him, his promises, and his word... Not good. He was seen by many as the better of the 4 members of slaughterhouse at the start, we see that Royce has come up on top of the group, with Budden not far behind in terms of success and prospects. Crooked again, trailing in the background, with everyone giving up those high expectations on the rare time he puts out hype/promo videos...

What he should do is use his underground superstar status to help out people like Kendrick Lamar, or Murs, give them his experience, when to be wary in this business

on point. i wasnt too excited when slaughterhouse joined shady cuz unless they put something out it means nothing.

but i felt like he wasted alot of really good songs on mixtapes. some of his tracks were so dope, if he were to make a solo studio album on a major label the bar might be set too high

Exactly. Each mixtape diluted and watered down could have gave Crook a decent album release. I can honestly say, there's only about 2-3 solid album worthy tracks on each of his mixtape releases, but with the amount of mixtapes out there, that's an album

yea, but im saying its kendricks time hes the new up and coming hes the blake griffin, crooked i is like a kevin garnett if anything.
Garnett right now or Garnett when he first joined the Celtics?

celtics garnett.

lol jo buddens, blu? murs? crooked would rip all of them. im talking about over all talent. whether it be verses or battling or juz straight off the top,i give it to crooked.
Crooked doesn't have nearly as much depth or versatility as murs or blu, let's me real. But yeah, battling or off the top, crooked got it. But who makes better overall songs or albums? Do you really think dude is capable of making an album close to "below the heavens" or '3:16 the 9th edition'? I don't think the strongest crooked I supporter can argue with that

kendrick lamar is an average rapper

i can't wait until he's turned into another "Brand Name / Ya boy / jay rock / nipsey hustle" aka a guy with a 15 minute buzz and fades out

dude is not a nipsey or game, he is not fake hope. he has potential his debut solo album proved it. crooked i wasted his prime on mixtapes and didnt want to "sellout" to a major label but he did at the end, and the whole reason for that is because he wanted to do what he wanted to do, basically call shots on his work as it should be.

but dude was still late, whatever slaughterhouse or they produce it basicallt has to get an ok from em, no mattehr what, its busineess if it doesnt seem its gonna sell i doubt a big label would put out a track for the sake of art. (as they havent)

dude deserves his dues

After he's recent releases I think Crooked has past his prime. The lyrics are still there but he got lazy on the mic and lost his sick flow from the 90's era. Just check him on that Low Life Gangstas "G's Come Out At Night" video - he's murdering muthafuckaz on that shit!

The latest and best opportunity for him to release his album was back in 2007 when Hip-Hop Weekly's dropped and the whole internet was going crazy over it.

Yes, Kendrick Lamar is having the biggest buzz right now but I'm waiting for Locksmith cause IMO he's the most talented rapper from the West right now when it comes to bars.
