Quote from: Iveus on July 08, 2011, 03:49:41 AMWho gave Crooked his torch though?IMO Crooked only recently got lyrical, back when he was on Death Row he was rapping about the same gangbang shit that everyone else rapped about. One who's been repping the west lyrically would be Blu or Murs...He raps about different topics now but the way he put his rhymes together & his flow were much better back then.

Crooked I's best opportunity came with the Untouchable album. Year 2000, a time when the West was certainly not known for it's lyrical ability. It was a perfect way for the West to come out with a new unconventional style for them, and for him to make a healthy name for himself. Gold was easily achievable for him back then.. His 2nd, and last opportunity IMO came when he was getting good buzz with magazines, and the Boom Boom Clap video.. He's been at it too long now, and although he's had some career highlights - Hip Hop Weekly, Slaughterhouse, etc. Crooks had a lot of low points, such as releasing too many mixtapes, and as a result too many mixtape quality tracks degrading the overall quality of his catalogue. His constant disapproval, aspirations of big numbers, and holding back from "decent" opportunities has caused most of his own fan base to loose all confidence in him, his promises, and his word... Not good. He was seen by many as the better of the 4 members of slaughterhouse at the start, we see that Royce has come up on top of the group, with Budden not far behind in terms of success and prospects. Crooked again, trailing in the background, with everyone giving up those high expectations on the rare time he puts out hype/promo videos... What he should do is use his underground superstar status to help out people like Kendrick Lamar, or Murs, give them his experience, when to be wary in this business
Bar for Bar I'd Say Clinton Wayne's the best on the West Coast
Joe budden is doin better than Crooked IRoyce is doin waay better than Crooked I and he's gettin radioplay with that Bad meets evil EP or whatever it is.. Joell? I dont know.. Maybe on the same level as Crooked I..

Each mixtape diluted and watered down could have gave Crook a decent album release. I can honestly say, there's only about 2-3 solid album worthy tracks on each of his mixtape releases, but with the amount of mixtapes out there, that's an album
kendrick lamar is an average rapperi can't wait until he's turned into another "Brand Name / Ya boy / jay rock / nipsey hustle" aka a guy with a 15 minute buzz and fades out
