Jeter, Yankees remember Irabu as fun teammate

NEW YORK (AP)—Hideki Irabu’s famous teammates on the New York Yankees remembered him Friday as a talented pitcher who was fun to be around.

The club held a moment of silence for Irabu at Yankee Stadium before Friday’s game against Baltimore, one day after news of his death spread. A picture of Irabu tipping his cap to the crowd was shown on the big video board in center field.

Los Angeles County Assistant Coroner Chief Ed Winter told The Associated Press in an email Friday that the 42-year-old Irabu died by hanging himself. He said Irabu did not leave a note.

Though it's funny how the media's grieving and shit even though they were pouncing and eating him when he was alive...

Are you referring to the NY media? Fools love to act fake like that. I heard that the NY media were on the fiance of Tito Wooten in the late 90's so much she offed herself also

I was actually refering the Japanese media. They say he was great and he paved the way for japs to get to the majors and all that, but a couple of years back the media and japanese public in general put him on full blast for being affiliated with the yakuza or something...
Wouldn't surprise me if the NY media acted fake too though...

I know that the NY media made Felipe Lopez the most overhyped athlete ever just because he went to St. Johns & stayed locally. Acted like he was gonna be the best college player ever. Sadly he ended up a 2nd round pick in the nba.
