Has Dr Dre become that "Old Guy In The Club" character?
« on: August 23, 2011, 07:59:18 AM »
My views are that Dr Dre has become like that classic "old guy in the club" character that everyone knows about - you know the guy who is a little too old to be in the club, trying to look cool and trying to dress like the young folks but looking awkward as f***.

Unfortunately the westcoast is full of old guys who are well past their sell date.

Other guys that deserve a mention:

1. E-A-Ski - this guy is old as f***, he's got wrinkles and balding in that new video with Ice Cube - still acting like he is in 1996 talking about the same old shit - disgrace. This old man is bitter he never got a album released during the golden era and is trying to recapture that era - but I could probably sell more than him now and I aint never rapped!
2. DJ Quik- "The Book of David" was alright, but he is old and washed up, his beats are starting to sound the same and he can't really connect with his fans like he used to.
3. The Game - The RED album was a disappointment, it sounds rushed with pointless homo-erotic Dr Dre narratives, its almost like Dre is his boyfriend or something.

Jay-Z feels more like the owner the club...

I don't think Dre's that type of character considering he never says or does anything himself, it's always someone else saying this & that for him and keeping his name on the scene. Cube, Quik, Eiht and almost every other 90's rapper this forum drools over fits though. Snoop barely escapes since he's still someone people wanna work with.

Threadstarter woke up this mornin thinking about Dre, quik and e.a. ski. I'm curious to know how old he/she is and what accomplishments has he made in his life span compared to what those cats were doing at his age

stop fucking hating...typical Westcoast fan...nobody on the East Coast says this kind of shit when Jay-Z or Nas drops a new album...People don't complain about Nas not dropping another Illmatic or Jay-Z dropping another Reasonable Doubt but West Coast fans stay waitng on another Chronic or another Doggystyle or Dogg Food...Jay-Z albums are all still heralded as the latest masterpiece everytime they drop even tho his ass is approaching 50...nobody cares...they just enjoy the music...but West Coast fan over judge and tear down all our legends ...hell even the newer artists like The Game get ripped because his new shit don't sound like The Documentary...are you really in here complaining about  how they look?  you sound like a fag really...this doesn't happen in any other type of music...jazz, rock, etc...Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley...they got old, fat, and their sound completely changed but their fans loved them and supported them til they died...but West Coast rap fans are mostly haters stuck in the 90's scared to imbrace anything but the classics...please expand your narrow ass mind playa...

West burned out. Artists are trying to do what was done in 90's, a bit more modern - but it usually dont come close. Thats pretty much the biggest problem as I see it. I havent seen anybody puttin something fresh and diffrent to west coast rap.
