I've been waiting on this thread for a long time

the simple answer is this: there is no such thing as a flop anymore since nobody sells records, especially if you are a newer artist

It 's a flop if they dont play it on cable tv......and on the radio cause that is what generates record sales......and also it is a flop if major retailers dont stock it in there shelves all over the store......last week i was at target....and a certain rap artists tapes were on every aisle as you were going to checkout......so if they dont do all that then it is a flop....

It's about money spent versus money earned. I think a lot of people just look at the numbers and don't factor in anything beyond that. Like a #1 album is cool but if it drops off the charts in a couple months, it's not the same as say an album that stays the course longer and ends up selling more in the long run.

in snoop case its simple, if his lead single is not a success it dont generate any sales and none of his singles in USA have peaked any good.

on another note he had more success in europe this with this Sweat David cuetta remix.. not that i like it but still it counts..

Another problem is he is realeasing albums every year, if he used more time on the albums it will also generate more sales..

well and his style, he is trying to do so many weird music styles. But what people realy wants is his gangsta side of him.

G Malone & Mack 10 album flopped
G Malone solo album flopped
Mack 10 last album flopped

Considering all of these are on decent indie labels.

^^^exactly^^^

niggaz iz just makin excuses for their favorite rapper of tha day (Glasses Malone).  i fuck wit G' but god damn this boy flopped, he flopped harder than a whale dropping from a 70000 feet high in tha sky plane on some geronimo shit.  he could've sold more out tha back of his trunk in tha amount of time.

i hope he still does his thing but clearly this is like the flop of the century right here.  it makes me scared for Nipsey, even though Nip doesn't really wanna be taken as serious when it comes to wanting to be a rapper.

It all depends on the expectations, kendrick was a success as hes completely independent and dropped a street album with no major single. Malone originally signed a 1.5 million dollar deal and he's on one of the biggest labels in the game, expectations should of been a lot higher for him

That contract was in 2005 though, he was released from that label a long time ago.

Major label, major promotion and poor sales thats a flop. But you cant judge it against ten years ago when everyone was selling good numbers.

So long as real rap music is black balled from mainstream radio, our favourite artists will be eating lean yell.

Anything that doesn't conform to industry/commercial radio guidelines.

Rappers are compromising their freedom of expression as artists to get radio play.
