Dr Dre should do a jazz-album wit Terrace Martin
« on: October 25, 2011, 07:08:15 PM »
those classic Burt Bacharach n Dre-collabos got me thinkin,

Dre n Terrace should create an instrumental expereince,
some coolass lounge music

Dre on the drum-machine, Terrace on piano n sax.. like a Dizzy Gilespie/John Coltrane recording session-type of thing. just let taht shit ride out for 35 or 40 minutes..

what do u think, Radiotube?    :monkey:

Why leave out the other musician-producer extraordinaire? The Quikster? We already know he & Terrace got GREAT chemistry together & they can take it several steps further should they decide to REALLY get serious about it!

Sounds good too. But do you think it will ever happen? Do you know if the two of them actually worked on some tracks together already?

The Martin & Blake Jam Session of back in 2008 was on some fly ass muthafuckin shit. Quik can tear some shitup aside from rap, that's what makes him so versatile of a musician.

^^this but Terrace sounds great with 9th Wonder involved too. Terrace + anyone with real talent is a good move actually..othwise his shit sound generic and repetitive.

Personally I think if Dre wanted to go down that route I think he would need a few other people besides Terrace.  I HATE to sound cliche' right now (i really do) but if they were to do something like that they'd also need Quazedelic, Soopafly, Battlecat, and Meech Wells (maybe) to get down wit em.

I like Terrace's style but I don't think it's "gutta" enough for Dre.  But then again it all depends on what road he's taking, we don't even officially KNOW KNOW what direction "Detox" is going in, let alone a Dre/Terrace album.  But I know this is all 4 fun so I say "yeah" but they'd need a bigger team than just them two.  And yeah, my nigga Quik is a little TOO retro-funk 4 that and a little too old and sauteed in his ways to be tryna crank out pop records for artists like Dre and Terrace at this point in his career.

the result would sound somethin along the lines of this

the Dr Dre/Burt Bacarah songs

-------------------

im talkin jazz fusioned lounge music. an instrumental performance

just let Dre handle the slumpy n nasty drum-programming, n then  Terrace and his team  plays around it.
sprinkle it wit some sax, paino n guitar (terrce n marlon williams), some sporadic singin performances (scar, j black, uncle chucc) -- awesome
some mean ass gutter drums, harmonized wit jazz n mellow instruments. grownup shit, ya dig?  8)
fuck all that hippity hip hop-shit

Why the fuck would you need Dre to make a jazz album? Let the man stick to what he's good at: simple mainstream jams. I doubt he would even be good at jazzy hip hop, let alone straight jazz. And if you want jazzy shit go listen to the starving artists who already do it and deserve your attention
