If the DVD says "zone 1" or have the "1"-mark, you will not be able to play it, unless you have chipped your PS2 to make it all-zone compatible.
U.K. is zone 2 as far as I know..
and U.S. is zone 1

I have a PS2, but for zone 1 DVD's I need to use my zonefree DVD-player, because PS2 won't play it.

I bought a cd from HMV which allows me to play any region dvd, it was £10 i think (for PS2).
