Lakers Are Going To Sign Gilbert Arenas....
« on: February 08, 2012, 10:50:48 PM »
Yup...seems like thats the plan. First, we waived Derrick Caracter yesterday, and now Mitch Kupchak is attending a private work-out held for Gilbert Arenas:

the other possibility is that Arenas fails to impress in the workout, and we wait to sign JR Smith....still, I prefer Arenas, as I believe he still has some great ball in him. Either way, a move is in the works. 8)

Loving this move, as I can picture Arenas getting carried away taking dumb as shots Kobe would want to take instead.. then Kobe will punch him in the face and Arenas will bring a gun to the locker room. Should be great.
Cause I don't care where I belong no more
What we share or not I will ignore
And I won't waste my time fitting in
Cause I don't think contrast is a sin
No, it's not a sin

No ... he's completely done , J.R Smith is WAY better than the current Arenas... who is a worse player than Fish .

Plus waiving Caracter doesn't necessarily means another addition right now ... it's was the "cut down" date.

Word is Lakers are very relunctant to sign Agent 0 anyways

dude, how is he done? LOL...he averaged 17 points and 6 assists as a starter last year. the guy is 29 years old! thats right...younger than kobe, fisher, pau, and artest (4 of our 5 starters). If I'm Mitch, I'm takin a chance on Arenas...i think him and Kobe will get along and work well off each other. I wouldn't mind JR Smith either, but he can't run the point like Arenas, and thats a big need of ours.

How large is that "stats as a starter " sample  though ? He shot 34% from the field , 27% from 3 last season ... age has nothing to do with it , he has no lift on his J since he fucked his knees up ... I've watched about 30-35 Magic games last season and the series against the Hawks , the guy looks done to me ... bricking shot one after the other

Yes, he was horrible getting spot minutes for the Magic. But he was never utilized right by svg. U can tell he was unhappy in that situation. never got a chance to get into the rythm of the game with the rotations in Orlando. Point is, I don't think he's done. Worst case, Kobe hooks him up with then German knee doctors, Kobe System

i mean arenas isn't the "nigga" on the team no more. but that doesnt mean he can't be a quality starter.

if he comes kobe will put him on check, he'll be told his role by the FO in the discussions, kobe is going to ball handle a lot, but he is gonna handle the ball too, esp when kobe isn't on the floor.

now we have another guard that can penetrate and shoot. it should be good. I DO NOT WANT SESSIONS.

is it possible to get both? smith and arenas?  i mean if we do sign arenas its for the vets min right? so it means we still have a chance to swoop up on deron.

Kobe endorses this signing:

• Not only do the Lakers intend to take a look at Gilbert Arenas whenever he holds a workout in his attempt to reignite his career, the team also has Bryant's blessing to sign him, two people familiar with the situation told CBSSports.com. Perhaps just as important, Arenas, 30, has Bryant's personal stamp of approval. Bryant reached out to Arenas recently through an intermediary to let him know he's on board with Arenas joining the Lakers. It isn't clear whether Arenas will show Lakers GM Mitch Kupchak what he needs to see to take a chance on the three-time All-Star, but one person with knowledge of the team's strategy said the Lakers may not have the complete answer until they see Arenas in actual game action. Bryant has reached out to other players this way, most notably Metta World Peace -- back when his name was Ron Artest and the Lakers signed him in 2009.

I'm eager to see this. I'm not saying this to be funny.. I honestly think it could be interesting to see 2 huge egos who want to jack up crazy shots collide.

pretty sure Gilbert is past the stage of jackin up crazy shot...... if he's not, Kobe will put him in check.
