I'm tired of that 'put the west back on top' shit. it's the same story every year. By 'on top' peeps mean the most recognized or selling big numbers. It won't happen! The music industry is horrible right now, hip hop has been bastardized by corporations, and listeners don't care about reality rap in general, and certainly not the west coast.

Like the homie 909 said, it'd be nice just to see a few artists do real good IN the west coast. someone who all us west coast fans could say 'yea hes the shit'. fuck big sales, fuck videos, fuck radio (nobody will ever get on radio without major backing any more, they killed the radio). Just some shit we all like and respect.

The West Coast had its day in the sun, its time to take it back underground and just make great music without trying to cater to any rules or demographics. What would be nice is if there could be a major outlet for the underground heads to hear new shit and support it, without having to go thru the major label channels and stress about putting albums out. U know we all get pissed when our favorite artists dont sell shit, well we should get over that and just make sure WE support who we want to.

i think there needs to be a big time west coast mix tape scene, that would be dope. A lot of peeps aint interested though cuz they dont see big figure$ in it, but that would be a good way to go.

Damn homie.. I would say that you HIT THE HAMMER ON THE NAIL!!!!!  That was way too real and even I didnt have the heart to say it.  My fav part of this post was:

Whoa!!!!  The truth hurts yall.. and homie spit the truth.  Even though I love Sixx John.. Deep down inside, I really dont believe that any one artist out the West has the power to bring back the West.  You're so right in saying that the West had its day.  But if artists band together and get a strong underground fan base, MAYBE.  Mix Tapes could do it IMO.  Look at what indy artists like Mista CaNE is doin?  Free HOT ASS SHIT.  www.mistacane.com

The West is too damn greedy right now and niggaz aint clickin up.  Very nice post!!

Whoa!!!!  The truth hurts yall.. and homie spit the truth.  Even though I love Sixx John.. Deep down inside, I really dont believe that any one artist out the West has the power to bring back the West.

Why don't you pick up one of those 8 albums Sixx John released??
Oh wait, that's Jay-Z.  ;D
Kidnap Jay-Z & put Sixx John in his place, then the West would be back, LoL..

Really though..
If the West is going to bring out something big, it's gotta come from one of the big guys..
And as Snoop has been slipping lately with the Allstars, and even his own record, it seems that DRE is the man to rely on.
If he could back Knoc up, he could get really big, because he got what it takes.. talent, charisma, originality & he does sick hooks.
Just a shame that it didn't happen with "Knoc".. that could have helped him blow up.
I can't see hope for other cats neither.. Crooked I got skills, but where's the charisma, originality or hooks??
Same goes for Ras Kass & other high-tech lyricists.. that's not what the mass-public wants..
As Knoc, Snoop, Dre - Xzibit also got what it takes, but it seems half the west doesn't what him to get there..

If the high-profile/money-stackers doesn't help out the new acts, then the only thing that will sell is the old acts.. NWA would have sold, WC would have sold, 213 will maybe sell good, a Dre+Snoop-album would DEF. have sold..
The West needs a fresh breath - a new generation to step forward..
