This never fails me to amuse me

On the other hand when Benzino was running his mouth, he really was very quiet about Crooked. But what killed the beef was I GOT ROCKET LAUNCHER!

yeah the funniest part was when benzino tried to say Eastwood was better than Crooked I.....of course if that were even half true Eastwood would have a career post death row instead of signing to Master P

A thread gets made criticizing Crooked I's written freestyles and you namedrop a scribble jam champion? You have no business even being in this conversation.

he put out more songs than any other rapper? Dude, do you realize how many rappers have 10+ albums? No matter how many songs crooked I has had dropped on the net, he is no where near as many songs as many other rappers.

I closed it as soon as I heard "this niggas never goin broke again, picture me poor". I've seen/heard Crooked I use that verse atleast 7 different times now. Beyond pathetic. Atleast use something from HHW
"House shoes & coffee: I know the paper gone come"

That's his fault for wasting his best rhymes on freestyles over other people's beats that he randomly released on mp3s over the internet. Now people are going to remember him for his shitty EPs.

You guys are a bunch of fucking cry babies. Shit load of GREAT MCs recycle shit. You think they get paid for every fucking freestyle? Uhhh NO! So who cares! Does that take away the fact that he's a beast? That's the question. Get over it ladies!

the problem with crooked i is that he releases too many mixtape quality cuts....he needs to focus more on each track and start bangin out nothin but classics wit that studio sound, as he could. most his tracks sound effortless, other than the writing aspect. his pen has always been sharp, but it's time to put out an album with no filler/mixtape tracks.

thats the problem...over-saturation. too many mediocre cuts, not enough focus on each individual song. i'd prefer 10 tracks he put his heart and soul into, as opposed to 50 tracks he banged out mixtape steez. quality over quantity. someone needs 2 be in his ear tellin him this in order for him to excel.

Crooked I's time has went. His greatest opportunity was arguably the time he spent on Death Row with Untouchable, and Say Hi To The Bad Guy when he had huge internet buzz. He did have a good opportunity afterwards when Boom Boom Clap video was put out, but after that the flame went out. His flow wasn't as raw as it was from his DR days, or even the Big C-Style days, and despite being able to still drop heat, and have more personal content in his songs, he became - what other people have previously mentioned -> "boring", "repetitive", and it didn't help the fact that the quantity of material being put out by him was mixtape filler, with poor production. It has devalued his image over the years and solidified his position as a "mixtape rapper". No better than a cyserro, or papoose, and once you're seen as a mixtape rapper, it's literally impossible to crawl out of.

A little revival with Hip Hop Weekly, which he capatilized off of by...... Releasing a ... Mixtape  ::) and revival with Slaughterhouse, but it's clear he, budden, and Joell are the backup for Royce Da 5'9 - Who is the only one Slim is allowing up to center stage with him (see: Bad meets evil)

I gave up on Crooked, once his continuous mixtape releases had more skippers than keepers, which is ashame for someone who is talented, and is by all means a West Coast OG - Someone around in the golden age and is essentially old school meaning he's now too old to go down the mainstream star route so people need to quit dreaming that his debut album will be of anything other than another canceled project in place of a mixtape by the same title, or low budget release at best with few shady productions, or anything worthwhile to make it stand out

thing is, he still has potential to release something big...if he exerts himself into make 12-14 classic cuts, with top notch production value, it can be big for the west coast. but he isn't being managed properly, and the energy spent on making all these mixtape tracks is pretty much a waste of his talent. but i wouldnt say it's out of the question for him to release a successful project, cuz he still has the ability+potential to do so. i just dont see him doin it any time soon.

He can release a solid West Coast classic, no doubt. He has the ability to drop heat still, and if he has the right production team behind him, but the problem is, his chance to make it big time as a 'solo' artist has gone.

Look at all the other classic West Coast albums that never got mainstream thumbs up... Streetz is a Mutha is one I can think of

"Streetz iz a Mutha" went gold.......i'd say that would be pretty damn big if Crooked I can gain the same success Kurupt did in '99 with that album.
