I'm crying right now.
This would've been dope news 2 years ago. Hopefully this isn't another lose-lose trade for both teams like last time.
I mean, the guy is going to be 39 this October. He's hitting just over .250; it's not like it was a steal for us. Is a very nice improvement defensively & the closest thing we have to Gardner on the basepaths.I mean at this point in his career it basically just is Brett Gardner's replacement since he's out for the year.I mean although it was slim, there were rumors of Cashman trying to pull the move on Justin Upton, I hope getting Ichiro didn't kill that all together because Upton would be the real move.Even though getting more hitting is a joke; gotta go get some arms. Unless the Yankees are really tryna average scoring ten runs a game lol.
How was the Montero trade a lose lose? He's only 22 and hitting around .260 in the most inconsistent lineup in baseball. And this was also a good move for us, it was time to move on.

BTW, now that Smoak's been optioned to the minors I think you guys'll be seeing Montero at first a few times in the near future. And you know how this has pretty much been a big L for the Yankees. Not just Pineda & Campos going down but also Martin's performance being a far cry from what Yankees fans have come to expect from "the catcher of the New York Yankees" (yes we've been spoiled by Posada, expected Montero to take over & now can't wait until Sanchez comes into the mix a few years from now or at least I can't lol).Still I think you guys got the better of this trade (for now) since this means you guys won't have the pressure of deciding whether to sign Ichiro to an extension or not, plus you guys have been wanting to see your hitting prospects get more playing time (only to watch them get Smoak'd). And judging from how almost every M's fan I know turned their back on Ichiro ever since he couldn't hit 200 hits anymore I'm guessing you won't miss him much.
