I would love for a hip-hop artist to do this. And I have to say after bumping some of K. Dot's shit, the guy isn't just a good lyricist but also knows how to create songs so it would be cool to see him tackle it.

In terms of actual songwriting Kendrick is a beast. I love Horseshoe Gang for example, but for any non.wordplay.nerd what Kendrick is able to do is much more important and I can see why.
Amazing flow, lyrics not overloaded with similies, metaphores , etc. and SONG STRUCTURE!

as far as the topic is concerned:
i'm really hyped about this record, it's the first record in a long while that got me hyped. i'm sure kendrick kept word on what he promised and that we are gonna get a really innovative, creative and interesting album. if drake and mary j. is really on there, this is the first let-down though. but i'm gonna check complex straight away right after hitting the post button.

Yeah, that was what was refreshing in listening to Kendrick. I feel like here is a new artist who just might be able to hold down an album. Too many artists feel this need to flaunt their super-lyrical prowess when it really doesn't always vibe with the direction of the song. That song, "Illuminate", he did with Ab-Soul is probably my favorite track at the moment along with that Nas-Scarface joint off DJ Khaled's album.

to be honest, i'm not really hyped for it. in 2010 i wasnt hyped for the "night shift" and "day shift" of e-40 revenue retrievin series, but he surprised me with one of the best records that dropped since then. but his 5 predecessors weren't all that. "overtime shift" and "graveyard shift" are cool, while the three "block brochures" are just mediocre. 40 lost some creativity in there and it's not even a surprise because when u do 80 tracks a year, you will - at some point - lose the edge a bit. too shorts record was kinda cool, i even bought it, but there also was not much of replay value, even though there were some bangers on there ("i'm a stop", "money on the floor").

this last one mentioned is even a collabo with 40 but from the look of the albums and the way they try to drop it, i have a bad feeling that it's not gonna be the album i expect and that it is again more in the style of 40's last record with less effort on 40's verses. so i'm not hyped, let's say i'm interested if they prove me wrong
