Hamilton in that ballpark could do some wild things.

Hamilton outside the ballpark doesn't seem worth it. It'd just be like we got another Granderson with less speed, more tats and addiction problems, I'd rather have Justin Upton.

Not gonna happen.

You're right. King Felix is obviously going to come to the Yankees as a free agent signing in 2015, not in a trade.

I think he's above & beyond Granderson. & yeah, I'd rather have Justin Upton. I'd rather have Justin Upton. But at the same time, I'd rather have Mike Trout too. Some things you just can't have though.

I know that as a Yankees fan you think everyone wants to play for you, but it doesn't always work that way friend. We'll talk when he signs his extension here.

The only Mariners analysis I've seen you offer is "y'all had your chance in 2001". Probably not the most qualified person to speak on that  ;)

1-i always admitted you guys fleeced us on the Jesus trade EVEN BEFORE we knew Pineda was damaged goods

2-the Mariners really did have their best shot in 2001, that team was crazy good and I bet they would have beat the D-backs.

3-TBH nobody ever really asks me anything about Seattle lol

I just threw Upton's name out because there is a possibility that a trade might go down between the D-Backs & Yankees involving him.
Remember this is the Yankees we're talking about, they could make the sun revolve around earth if they wanted to.

I know that as a Yankees fan you think everyone wants to play for you, but it doesn't always work that way friend. We'll talk when he signs his extension here.

It's not that I think every player who's in the majors wants to join the Yankees (if you get paid a lot and suck you'll suffer the full wrath of ungrateful fans and New York media, just ask A-Rod) but the Yankees have the most powerful weapon in the entire world, money. Thanks to that and their relatively good farmsystem they have the ability to pry any player they want out of the other team's hands. There is no such thing as a player who's off limits to them (hence why the Yankees name always comes up during rumors regarding big free agents and faces for other franchises getting put on the waiver wire).
If the Yankees had ever felt they needed King Felix as much as they needed air to breathe Felix would've been out of Seattle even if it meant the Yankees had to pay millions of dollars, trade two of their big leaguers and all of their minor leaguers.

i hope the Giants win this series

Same. It's about time Hunter Pence got a WS ring.

Yeah, I mean, everyone has a price, but you would have to give up the entire farm to get Felix, Jack Z has stated over and over that he's not moving him. There's just this sentiment that he's leaving Seattle and it's been around forever. In 2009 all the pundits were saying we needed to move him cause there was NO WAY he was gonna sign here again, and then he signed an extension. 2010, same deal, says he loves Seattle and wants to stay. Last year, tells off Harold Reynolds for saying the Mariners need to move him. This year, says the same stuff about wanting to stay in Seattle. Everyone is just so convinced that he wants out and there's no way he's gonna stay here when all evidence points otherwise and it irritates the shit out of me lol

I see, well I don't think King Felix wants to leave Seattle but when you're a player who other teams would literally kill to have chances are some crazy ideas and rumors are going to be popping up everywhere for as long as you're young and putting up Cy Young caliber numbers.
I think the thing with Felix is that everyone (including me) loves guessing if he'll ever leave Seattle whether by a trade the front office makes or if he himself decides to leave. Even though they're a small budget team the Mariners could keep Felix around for his entire career if they felt like it, but because they're a small market team to them a player like Hernandez could be a key to bring in talent they could only dream of picking up (whether it's big name free agents or high ceiling prospects). Only problem is that the player is Felix Hernandez, the king, the undoubted face of the Mariners franchise. If he leaves Seattle will be a ghost of it's former self who'll have nothing left but a young, but promising, line-up that might collapse under the pressure of reviving a Felix-less Mariners team.

Basically it's "fun" little guessing game everyone in baseball is playing since it's unlike the Rays situation where trading their stars in the future is a given.

I hear you, but another misconception about the Mariners is that they're a small market team. I understand cause we've sucked for so long, but for starters the Seattle market is in the upper 50th percentile in terms of MLB teams. Also, our ownership has spent money in the past, in the mid-late 2000's our payroll was over 100m, problem was that Bevasi's dumbass signed a bunch of crappy players to huge contracts and our team sucked. Unless an ownership change happens (which has been rumored since Ichiro got traded) we're not going to be a major payroll team like y'all or the Red Sox, but we definitely have the capabaility to keep up with competitive clubs. At this point we're trying to build a young core and our payroll has decreased, but when the time comes to spend on free agents/reward our core players I don't see why they wouldn't be willing to do so again. I see what you're saying though, if I was a fan of the Yanks I'd probably be thinking the same thing, it's just that so many people here have this "woe is me" attitude about how our good players are never going to stay here, coupled with the fact that it's also a national perception, and it's something I argue about all the time in real life and the internet lol.
