But seriously, the West (and even rap music in general) ain't never going to have a resurgence. Album sales are down, and will never go back up. Only fools buy albums released by major labels. It's counter productive, and bad for the quality of music being released by these labels. Lamar having a good first week isn't going to help anyone else sell records. It's an illogical thing to think. One or two rap albums a year will sell well, the vast majority won't. Independent music is where it's at. The artist makes more profit, and he releases the music he wants, not what the label tells him to release.

That's rough, maybe slapped silly instead.  but I agree that thread starter is flat out wrong cause E-40 has been putting out great albums the last few years.  1st album of his I bought was my ghetto report card.  And his next albums are all worth getting in the revenue retreivin albums, all 4 of them & the block brochure albums also.  40 needs 2 teach Dr. Dre how to put out an album cause it seems like he 4got how.  I like Dre but 3 albums in 20 years?  Last one since 1999 or 2000?  40 can put out 2 or 3 albums at a time.  And they're good.  I think you meant 99.5% of the new school rappers

Yeah but Dr. Dre always strives for Quality really High Quality, Hell the only reason Doggystyle got released was by force. If Dr. Dre released albums as much as other artist I rarely think people in the industry would hold him as high acclaimed as he is right now.Just look at the other members of N.W.A, hell look at any rap artist.
