Thing is that the Lakers have missed the playoffs just 5 times since 1960. Think of that, the Celtics have missed the playoffs 13 times since then, 15 times since, and the Heat 8 times in their existence. The Lakers are the most consistent franchise in the NBA. One bad season is a drop in the bucket. Here is the thing, the Lakers need to destroy and rebuild. I say their priority must be to do everything in their power to keep Dwight Howard. Hell I say trade for Kevin Love while he is cheap and coming off injury. Get young talent around Howard now, forget making the playoffs this season and start to rebuild a younger team. But let the record show that when it comes to rebounding and building a competitive team, no one has a history like the Lakers, no one.

gotta be honest, though...mike d'antoni is probably a worse coach than mike brown. and thats a pretty hard feat to accomplish. i think not hiring phil for this roster has the potential to go down as one of the worst moves in laker history.

I don't agree. I think Howard needs to stay a Laker. The Lakers need to keep him. He is a piece, a very big piece. He can attract other players to come to the Lakers. Right now, a free agent has this choice if he wants to play in LA. Do I play with an aging Kobe and Pau, or do I play with CP3 running the point. That's not even a question. Now you have them ask, do I play with the best big man in the NBA, or the best point guard in the NBA. Now the question becomes harder. Keep Howard. He is a piece of that championship puzzle.
. he belongs on a team like the Raptors, straight up.

Perhaps a combo of Lowry+bargs+Ed davis+some picks, but anything short of that will not land u Dwight

He hasnt showed any ability to be a franchise guy like you said, or a player you want to build a team around. Thats why I wouldnt sell the farm for him.
He'd be good on a team like the Raptors... No pressure like in LA and they can have success by doin what Orlando did, surround him with shooters and use him as a decoy on offense.
