All the Detox sessions on just one album?
« on: February 05, 2013, 09:45:50 PM »
Off the top of my head here is what I got so far, in order from definitely was intended for Detox, to leftovers from sessions...

1.  "Kush"
2.  "I Need A Doctor"
3.   "Mr. Perscription?"
4.  "Topless"
5.  "Under Pressure"
6.  "Die Hard"
7.  "Imagine"
8.  "Pop A Bottle"
9.  "Bosses Life"

What else.. this gives us a pretty good idea what Detox would of sounded like.

If we're talkin' about beats that were "supposed" to be on "Detox", there was a whole article about them on some magazine. I can't remember what magazine it was right now though. You could probably just list every Dr. Dre beat that came out after "2001", cause probably most of them were intended for "Detox" at some point.

Your right.. that's why my criteria was to number it from tracks that were definitely intended for Detox, songs like "Kush", to songs that were just beats from those sessions, such as "Boss's Life" (that ended up on Blue Carpet treatment.

If we can do that and come up with a good list and take the top 14 tracks.  Then we could have a nice album that would closely resemble what Detox would've sounded like.  I'll revise my list now with what Scitt posted.

That's the closest anyone has gotten, but not what I'm looking for, I have to ask you what was your criteria for these mixtapes?

The system I was offering is you start with the tracks that were definitely intended for Detox and then work your way down.   Your latest mixtape doesn't even have "Kush" on there.  Out of all the tracks Dre did, "Kush" is the MOST obvious Detox track.  It even came out with a video in which the album title was listed as "Detox".  So the fact that you don't have "Kush" on there makes me question your system.  I know you have it on earlier versions, but that just confuses things.

Again, what I'm looking for is for us to compile one album that is the closest to what Dre would have intended to be his Detox album.   Track #1. would have to be "Kush" and Track #2. would have to be "I Need A Doctor".  Because both those songs came with video's that listed "Detox" as the album.   It should start with "Kush" and work it's way down from there.

this is what I came up with...

1.  "Kush" ft. Snoop, Akon, & Sly
2.  "I Need A Doctor" ft. Eminem & Skylar Grey
3.  "Mr. Perscription" ft. Nikki Grier & Sly
4.  "Under Pressure" ft. Jay-Z
5.  "Die Hard" ft. Eminem
6.  "Flashy" ft. Snoop Dogg
7.  "Chillin" ft. Swizz Beats
8.  "Popped Off" ft. TI
9.  "Drug Test" ft Game & Snoop
10."3 Kings" ft. Jay-Z & Rick Ross
11."Comtpon" ft. Kendrick Lamar
12."Turn Me On"
13."Syllables" ft. Eminem, Jay-Z, 50 Cent, Stat Quo, & Cashish
-
14."Topless (TI Reference Track Version)" ft. Nas
15."Topless (Eminem Reference Track Version)" ft Nas
16."OG's Theme (Ludacris Reference Track)"
17."Say Dr Dre (Crooked I Reference Track)"
18."This Is Detox (TI Reference Track)"
19."Coming Back (TI Reference Track)"
20."It's Like That (Prophet Reference Track)"
21."The Doctor" (Young Knox Reference Track)"
22."Who's Your Daddy, Bitch" (Bishop Lamont Reference Track)"
23."Pay Up (Killer Mike Reference Track)"

the first part consists of tracks that were completed or leaked unfinished and were definitely intended for "Detox"

the rest are tracks that leaked as reference tracks with other cats rapping dre's verse

we can list hundreds of songs if we list the songs in which the beat was originally intended for "detox"..I believe every beat dre made after "2001" was originally intended for "detox", so i left off songs like "crack a bottle" and "boss' life", considering the beat mighta been intended for "detox", but was used for a completely different song.

now, after looking at the tracklist, i think the album woulda been solid, at best. safe to say i agree with dre's decision to not release this, because even though some songs may knock, releasing an album anything under great would tarnish his legacy. so yea, hopefully he realized that the generic sounding songs were bringing the value down, and is re-working some real shit up in the lab.

if i left something off, feel free to add..

i dont know if i can do this becuz dubcc has some sortve obsession with Dr. Dre and Aftermath (mainly Dr. Dre) but i'll up these.  If it goes down just know it wasnt me, that kinda decision isnt in my hands so excuse me if i get your hopes up.  the links works so dont tell me they dont.  These songs are in order to tell a story and the album titles explain it all (aswell as the order of the songs)

Great post.  This is pretty much what I was looking for.  Since it's pretty much official now that Detox will never come out the closest I can get is compiling some tracks like these and "imagining" what Detox might have been like.

And I agree too with him not releasing it, because it would of tarnished his legacy.  I think "Kush" and "I Need A Doctor" were certainly up to par, in spite of what others say, I also thought "Topless" was up to par... but just not enough great material after that.

People always neglect to mention Bishop Lamont's 'Who's Your Daddy, Bitch?!' when discussing potential Detox tracks, in my opinion the best reference track of them all.
