I finally just broke out my entire Quik collection for the first time in a while & once you start bumpin one you can't help but just play through the whole discography.

Quik is still the shit!

I own all his albums but since I don't really use CD's anymore I haven't really bumped his shit for awhile either, and I never got around to ripping the albums. This thread made me go download a torrent for his discography in 320. It's gonna be a damn good week getting reacquainted with Quik's catalog  8)

Fuckin right tho! I broke out Rhythm-al-ism & Book of David recently. That's what sparked my last week or so of bumpin all the albums. That & I'll admit...once Spring & Summer hit I love playin the Quik albums with the windows down.

I think Book of David is his best album. Every track bumps. A few of the songs (So Compton, Nobody, Do Today, Flow For Sale) are among the best individual songs of Quik's career.

Every Quik album is a mixture of amazing tracks and a mediocre tracks...but on Book of David the amazing tracks are the most amazing.

When I first copped that a bit after it dropped I really wasn't feelin more than 5 tracks. It grew on me to the point I play it all the way through now. Some of those beats are ridiculous, no doubt. Still remember the first version of "Nobody" that leaked out back in late 2010 with just Suga Free on it. My first thought was it was Free's track.

Random Question to everybody: Will we get a BlaQKout 2 or do you think Quik & Kurupt will do anything new at all?...

Safe and Sound...I remember the Source's injustice giving him only 4 mics, definitely deserved the classic rating, pretty flawless production and some of his best rapping

"Somethin' 4 Tha Mood", off of "Safe + Sound", is one of the best drivin' tracks.

similar ordering to the OP, just with Rhythm-al-ism and B&O switching positions.

so Rhythm-al-ism, Balance & Options, Safe & Sound as the top three, in that order. as for the rest of them, Book of David is definitely near the top of the pack 8) UTI is very good too, i like both of those more than Trauma.

No doubt! Good to see a lot of you believe B&O, Rhythm & S+S are the overall best. Gotta agree there's been plenty of times where I like Rhythm a little more than B&O.

I still got love for the whole discography...but there's a little separation from those 3 & the rest. UTI, W2F & TBOD are still hot too. My list goes:

1. Balance & Options
2. Rhythm~al~ism
3. Safe + Sound
4. Under Tha Influence
5. The Book Of David
6. Way 2 Fonky
7. Quik Is The Name
8. Trauma

good list, very similar to how i'd rank them all aside from a couple which would probably get swapped. the top two like i said, though B&O is amazing for it's length and consistency, i just feel like Rhythm-al-ism has the stronger standout, GOAT cuts. it's close though. quik is the name i'd put over way 2 fonky largely on the strength of tonite, which still holds up like crazy today, especially the remastered version found on da finale. like you said they are all great albums regardless, but those top three, coming back to back chronologically, are just on another level. trauma i've spoken about before and it's sparse production seems to get less and less interesting over time.

i don't think that means quik has fallen off in recent years though, on the contrary. get the best tracks from blaqkout and book of david on the same LP and you potentially have something that can fuck with the top 3. it's more a question of quik will ever want to make that album than if he can. he seems keen on doing a diverse range of sounds and stepping outside the box more and more. i'll remain in the group that wants to hear a Rhythm-al-ism 2 more than anything else 8)
