Had this album been as good as Restless, then Weapons of Mass Destruction would have pushed more units. WoMD is one of the most over looked albums.

"man vs machine" > "weapons of mass destruction"

That track where he used the " I miss the rains down in Africa " sample was garbage.

How many people have used that fuckin same sample? Nas comes to my mind right away.

I like that joint.  I actually consider "Heart of Man" to be one of the bangers on the album.   Love the sample to.  I've been getting back into 80's music from my youth over the past few years and that joint is from Toto "Africa".

The sample has been used 100's of times.  I wonder if that has something to do with whoever owns the copyrights, or if artists just love that sample.   PM Dawn also used it for one of their hits back in the early 90's "Set Adrift on Memory Bliss".... that's the only joint I can think of off the top of my head but there's several more.

yea, "heart of man" goes hard

The big question is why did have a Primo track as a bonus? What A Mess is probably the best track on it. My Life My World is dope as fuck too. Crazy decision to put them tracks as bonuses. I agree with the OP's view that half the album is a real let down. Think I bought it the day it came out and I had my CD player with me, inserted the disc in straight away and was disppointed to say the least.

Maybe it was a late edition or something.  Otherwise, I don't know why they would of left "What a Mess" off.  It was a big mistake.

...Yeah, I was so hyped for this album.  I mean, Xzibit was really the man at the time, because he was on fire and all his albums had been West Coast classics.   I remember Man Vs. Machine was getting a lot of good hype and everyone was buzzing about it.   I also got it the first day it came out.  Those were like the last days when record stores were still around, so it's one of my last memories buying a cd at a music store.

I definitely wasn't disappointed, at first... Because I put the cd in and right away "Release Date" was fucking killing it... then it leads right into "Symphony in X Minor" and I'm already thinking it's another classic on our hands.  Then "Heartz of Man" I loved the sample right away.   I was in the zone.   I picked out the Dr. Dre tracks and checked out "Losing Your Mind" and was feeling it.

Of course ultimately the album fell short and it's definitely not one you could play all the way through.  I was confused at the new sound he was going with for the album, especially on tracks like "Miss You" and the Golden State joint.  But at the end of the day, "Say My Name" was a monster track when I first heard it and I think the first few days I had the album I had that joint on repeat non-stop.

Xzibit is a bit over rated

If anything he is under-rated.  He should be mentioned as one of the greatest who ever did it...

Subjectively Speaking:

1.  2pac
2.  Eminem
3.  Nas
4.  Xzibit
5.  Snoop

Objectively Speaking:

1.  2pac
2.  Biggie
3.  Nas
4.  Snoop
5.  Xzibit

xzibit is underrated, no doubt...he can rap with the best of em but doesnt get anywhere near the same recognition as the snoops or jay-zs, or even dmxs and ja rules. dude deserved more shine. 3,000 copies for "napalm" was a joke.
