Aaaaaaaaaaand Team Mayweather is saying that they will fight Canelo... only at 147.  Which is kind of a bitch move, especially with all that talk of fighting Cotto at 154 since that was where Cotto was comfortable at, and how he didn't want to fight him at anything less than 100% (despite having dodged Cotto in 2007 when he was at 147 and still undefeated).  Canelo is kind of a big boy and hasn't fought at 147 in three years.

Bob Arum didn't want to put Cotto in there with Floyd back in 2007. No damn surprise that as soon as Cotto left top Rank, fight was signed immediately. Canelo and Floyd agree to fight each other when it's what the people wanted. What's the common factor here? Top Rank.

...and the fact that Floyd has beef with them resulting from his disagreements with him around the time he went solo and split from them.

It's not like Top Rank wasn't trying to work with him (and Golden Boy) when they were trying to set up a Pacquiao fight, so it's not as if they are refusing anything involving him. But in all fairness, everyone was being a bitch in some way during that three years of negotiating... from Manny to Floyd to Arum to Oscar to Schaefer to Ellerbe.

Plus long before the fight was announced, Arum wanted Bradley-Marquez to take place on September 14th but made it clear that if Floyd signed a contract for a fight on the same night regardless of his opponent, he would re-schedule his own fight... which he did, no questions asked. It contrasts to him saying fuck it and going head-to-head with Golden Boy last year when they both had fights on the same night.

Of course he wouldn't go head to head vs a Floyd PPV. Actually, if it was any other opponent other than Canelo, I'm sure Arum would have continued

No he wouldn't have, whether it ended up being Mayweather-Alexander, Mayweather-Matthysse or Mayweather shadowboxing.  Arum makes questionable decisions sometimes and says stuff before thinking as well, but he knows that any Floyd fight is going to sell, just like how a Manny fight will sell.  Even if Mayweather-Guerrero wasn't a blockbuster, it still did numbers that are better than what every other non-Floyd or non-Manny fight would do.
