Author Topic: DJ Quik Beats Based on Other DJ Quik Beats (Read 480 times)

So I've been on a Quik fix lately, perhaps like many of you all, thanks to the dope snippet that is Life Jacket, and I've noticed something: certain Quik beats sound kinda like updates or alterations of other Quik beats.

For example: I think "Let's Make a V Tonight" has a similar texture to "Let's Get Down." I don't know enough about musical instruments to say what the similarity exactly is, but it's there.

And "If You Stay Ready" sounds to me like it incorporates a lot of the sounds that Quik put into the "Swallow Me" beat.

Any others come to mind? Quik is so dope. I wish he put out an album every month.

I think quik just had a certain sound that was pretty much his trademark any time you heard a track of his. it is sadly missed.

All for you remix. And bitch better have my money. Tony Toni thinking of you remix, and 220 more than a player. Also, I always thought the beginning of tonight tweaked the same sample as the butch cassidsy so cold beat.

WOW! I never heard this before. Great beat! What else has Quik produced for Danny Boy and other RnB singers? I know he did that awesome "Welcome 2 Death Row" beat for Pac and Danny Boy as well.

i can't think of the AMG song, but it's very similar to "addictive." i believe it's on the Bitch Betta Have My Money 2001 album or maybe it was a fixxers joint. i can't look it up at work right now. matty might know the joint....

quik produced a whole album for danny boy that was released on wideawake entertainment records a few years ago. and there have been some leaks of r&b joints with jewell. quik seems to have done quite a bit of work when he was around death row.

think that's called 'perfection'...same sampled drum loop (bt express - do it).
