never was a fan of the Soprano's but I love mob movies so maybe I'll give that show a shot.  I never had HBO when it was on the air

The Sopranos is my favorite piece of mob fiction. It's not fair to compare it to movies, apples and oranges, but there has never been a fictional portrayal of the mob that has been so intellectually rewarding as The Sopranos. It's my second favorite show, after The Wire of course, but the writing, acting, and subject matter is top notch.
