Royals are actually for real.  Honestly all it really took was for Hosmer and Moustakas to finally start playing up to their potential.  Suddenly, once Hosmer took off the whole complexion of the franchise changed.

Now we are legit contenders for the wildcard and possibly even the division.   

Our pitching is the best in baseball.  And we deserve it because we gave up a lot for it.  We gave up the best prospect in all of baseball (Will Myers who is now tearing it up for the Devil Rays) to get our rotation in order.  But James Shields totally changed the culture in Kansas City, and took our pitching staff from worst to first.   It's going to be debated for years but I think the trade was worth it.

Detroit is still the team to beat in the AL Central, a more realistic goal would be to finish ahead of Cleveland in the division. And in the Wild Card race(s) there's Oakland, Texas, Boston, Baltimore and Tampa, no room for Kansas.
