KOBE VOTED FAVORITE PLAYER IN THE LEAGUE AMONGST ROOKIES......

My favorite player when I was 10? Hakeem Olajuwon. Why? Because by the time I was 10, Jordan was on the White Sox. Magic had already retired. Same with Bird. Hakeem was the best player out there. I was born when Olajuwon came in the league. But, as a young impressionable fan, Hakeem was the one I saw on Sports Center. He was the one I saw on TV playing.
To this day, Hakeem is still my favorite player. You gain a connection with that first player you follow.

if u wanna talk about popularity and whos gotten more sportcenter coverage in the past 10 years, it's clearly been lebron. kobe would probably win a popularity poll......if it were held in china LOL.
but that wasnt even my point...fact of the matter is, if u grew up watching some1 from day 1, u have more chances of developing a personal attachment to said player. cham is the proof. so am i....im sure there are exceptions. there are definitely 19 year olds who've followed kobe and consider him their favroite player...but it's more likely to be lebron. lebron is the player of the 90s babies generation.

I skipped over any post of yours. Though, you may have missed my point: You gain a connection with that first player you follow. You follow the first player you really find out about. You find out about the Best player (LeBron was NOT the best player 10 years ago) or the player you see the most (Kobe, again, was on a team that made the Finals, had 3 other hall of famers and were a top 5 in the NBA 10 years ago, who do you think was on National TV and Sports Center more?).
Remember, in 03-04 you just couldn't go to a website and watch all Regional Games. You were at the mercy of what was on TNT/ESPN that night. Kids who were born 2 years before and 2 years after me all say Jordan was their favorite. Why? Because when they were getting into watching Basketball, he was the best. By your theory, my favorite player should be C.Webb. He was the Rookie of the Year when I REALLY got into Basketball. He was hyped in College. But, he's not. My friends who were born a couple years later, should probably Iverson. They don't. Kids born 2 years before me should say Shaq. They don't.

the first player i followed was magic johnson....unfortunately, i didnt get to see him for his entire career. when kobe first came in to the league, of course magic was still my favorite. 10 years later, it's quite obvious why i'd have more of a relation to kobe, watchin him grow as a player from day 1......kobe, duncan, garnett, kidd were the players for those born in the 80s...lebron, melo, wade, durant for the 90s babies...irving, lillard, steph, harden are the players for kids from the 2000s. it's pretty obvious, really.
and c-webb is not on the same superstardom level as the players were talkin bout, so goin there is obviously a weak argument.
