So because Rappers mention James Worthy, he's the Roger Maris of Basketball? Remember, Roger Maris owned the Home Run Record until McGwire and Sosa destroyed it. James Worthy does not have that lore in his Sport.
Remember, the Yankees have had the YES Network since 02. The Lakers just got their Network, there's a reason for that.

What am I saying is: The amount of Legendary/Iconic Players on the Yankees > Lakers
They are all equally as important to their sport, but we're talking about some of these Yankee legends came before TV was showing Baseball, or just plain before a majority of people had TV.
We can't compare a "Global Impact" like Jersey sales. Of course Kobe is selling more jerseys than Babe Ruth. How are you even asking that? Kobe has played on TV his entire career, Babe Ruth was just a name on the Radio and a picture in the Paper. Is that what we've come to?
My entire point of listing players was to show the sheer amount of top notch players that graced a Yankee uniform for longer than a season or 2. Look at the Yankees list, it never falls off. The Laker list with names like Worthy and Goodrich doesn't stand as tall. 2 great players, sure, but they're not Mariano Rivera or Reggie Jackson in their sport. Hell, I don't think they're even Munson or Maris of their sport.

Man, Not according to Forbes. Forbes has the Yankees as #3 and the Lakers at #48 on value. Knicks are #1 selling merch of basketball teams, Yankees are #1 in baseball and #3 globally. So merch sales is a very BAD way to judge GOAT franchises.

Yes. And I said Forbes. But please don't have me post the proof. Because it's really, really bad for the Lakers. Let's just say the list is heavy NFL, the Yankees are the top American team, soccer is of course the dominate sport and basketball doesn't see the list until really low, and the Lakers ARE NOT the top merch seller in basketball.

foreal, tho, laker brand is still the strongest in the nba...we didnt sell the most jerseys last year cuz every1 already has their laker jerseys. but thats only in america. i can guarantee lakers sell the most merchandise world-wide.
i guess yankees get more love overseas than i thought.. but it's funny- i guess being in LA, i never see any yankee gear anywhere...i mean, u even see dallas cowboy gear, miami heat gear, even celtic gear....but rarely will u catch some1 repping yankees out here.

In 2012 and 2013 the Yankees had Ichiro Suzuki and Hiroki Kuroda on their team. There's an easy profit from the Japanese market and a few million units of merchandise sold right there.
Plus the Yankees had the pride of Panama (Rivera) and the Dominican Republic (Cano). The Yankees have got foreign countries buying their shit and supporting their countrymen who are representing their countries and competing against the best of the very best.
Meanwhile how many non US countries can claim that their countrymen are playing for the Lakers and buy Lakers merch to support them?
