Yeah. Basketball is a Sport where 9 out of 10 times the team with the Best player at that time wins.
In Baseball, I direct your attention the 2011 Dodgers. Kemp was the 2nd runner up to Braun in the MVP race and Kershaw was the NL Cy Young. The team barely played .500. Baseball is a true team sport. You won't win based on the fact that you have a guy hitting 50+ home runs in a season, ask the Orioles. You won't win even if you have the best lights out pitcher.

You must not understand Baseball at all if you think there are not that many competitive teams. Sorry, but that's a fact. You cannot sit here with a straight face and tell me you understand Baseball if you think that's true.
But, the fact remains, the Celtics have the same success rate as the Lakers and the Yankees are a mere 1.8% away.
What you fail to understand is that I'm not "arguing baseball players vs basketball players." I'm stating the fact that the Yankees have had many more ICONS/LEGENDS play for their squads, as opposed to the Lakers.

and what i was sayin was that just because the lakers have a franchise almost as good as them in the nba, while the yankees dont, should not take away from what the lakers accomplished. celtics are also better than any mlb franchise outside of the yankees, so that point is moot.

What am I saying is: The amount of Legendary/Iconic Players on the Yankees > Lakers
They are all equally as important to their sport, but we're talking about some of these Yankee legends came before TV was showing Baseball, or just plain before a majority of people had TV.
We can't compare a "Global Impact" like Jersey sales. Of course Kobe is selling more jerseys than Babe Ruth. How are you even asking that? Kobe has played on TV his entire career, Babe Ruth was just a name on the Radio and a picture in the Paper. Is that what we've come to?
My entire point of listing players was to show the sheer amount of top notch players that graced a Yankee uniform for longer than a season or 2. Look at the Yankees list, it never falls off. The Laker list with names like Worthy and Goodrich doesn't stand as tall. 2 great players, sure, but they're not Mariano Rivera or Reggie Jackson in their sport. Hell, I don't think they're even Munson or Maris of their sport.

lol yes they are..i personally knew of james worthy way before any player on ur yankee list not named babe ruth. seriously, how many rappers have rapped the name james worthy? it's gotta be more than any yankee player.
but the point is, the names magic johnson, shaq and kobe bryant are easily globally as recognized as any yankee player EVER and then some...i bet the lakers also sell more merchandise than the yankees globally. lakers are simply a bigger brand, synonymous with coca-cola and mcdonalds..with merchandide and marketting, no one's touching the lakeshow..a straight empire. in about 20 years, a lot of kids probably wont even know who joe dimaggio was...baseball is seriously phasing out and is slowly becoming nothing more than a past-time, while basketball is rapidly growing internationally. it wont be long before the entire world officially recognizes the lakers as the GOAT sports franchise.

Man, Not according to Forbes. Forbes has the Yankees as #3 and the Lakers at #48 on value. Knicks are #1 selling merch of basketball teams, Yankees are #1 in baseball and #3 globally. So merch sales is a very BAD way to judge GOAT franchises.
