Tupac Biopic Set To Begin Filming In Spring 2014

The long-discussed and well overdue Tupac biopic has finally set a shooting date of early 2014.

Producers and financiers Morgan Creek and Emmett/Furla/Oasis Films have announced plans to begin principal photography on the film next spring.

According to Billboard (via THR) the two companies held a reception for friends and supporters of the late, great hip hop artist at the Zanzibar in Santa Monica last Thursday where producer Randall Emmett confirmed the 2014 shoot is a go.

The Tupac film was original set to start filming back in 2011 after a lengthy legal battle between Morgan Creek and the rapper’s mother Afeni Shakur. Morgan Creek had sued Shakur, claiming she had continued to negotiate for creative control of the film after signing over rights to her son’s music and story. Shakur counter-sued, claiming she had no deal in place with Morgan Creek. But the dispute was settled out of court and Shakur is now an executive producer on the film.

Despite this development, there is still no word on who will play Tupac in the film or who will direct – stay tuned to DubCNN for more news.

No disrespect to Afeni but it seems like everything to do with Pac that she is involved with gets ruined!

Its a go..LT Hutton is in charge of the 2Pac film that is going to be made here in Hollywood... Tha OG Death Row people are coming out of hiding.. Those that can!!!!!! Tha soundtrack is already being put together!!!

  That's not real.  Telltales signs are the "Film by" credit and director aren't the same, which is very rare. There are no studio logos or website pages.  On movie poster credits, the word "And" is typically smaller than the font on the people being credited. On a teaser poster, I doubt they would have lengthy credits and the absence of actual cast but mention of "Music By" is a smoking gun. And the entire design, down to the stock Tupac photo reeks of a photo shop job.

Also, Jerry Bruckheimer's name is attached with no connection to what his involvement is in the picture.  Notice the word, "production" is absent after his name, which is a glaring type-o. And if he was involved, his name should also be in the "Produced by" credits like Fuqua's would be on the "Directed By" if he was getting "Film by" credit. Also, if Bruckheimer were producing, then "Jerry Bruckheimer Films" would be credited as a presenting production company, along with Morgan Creek.  Also, Morgan Creek's distribution deal is with Universal.

I know there's a lot of "film geek" shit right there but trust me... that poster is faker than a $3 bill.

Biggies movie was cool and all..... but Pacs movie would be a whole lot more interesting..... let's hope they do it right.

I have little faith in it being good.  I think that estate-approved film, "Resurrection", was where it should have ended.  A biopic will likely just be corny.

The problem w/that is Mackie is like 30 something playing a 25 year old.
I know he pulled it off (in some people's eyes) in the Biggie movie or whatever but even then it was a bit off...
(IMO, AM had a weak pointy chin that bothered me... lol)
