Finally, an MLB fan who's not remedy, hack or cham .Personally I think the Angels already kind of lost because they could not accomplish their most dire need, improving their starting rotation. Ever since last year Peter Bourjos was linked to a lot of teams that could send the Angels some very good starting pitching (or at the very least someone who's better than Joe fucking Blanton) and the Angels got back a 3rd baseman and a guy who couldn't keep his job against a few rookies (a few talented ones at that though). Even worse is that Jason Vargas is no longer available. They should probably go for Phil Hughes .As for what this means for the Dodgers, I have no idea. They could resign Uribe, they could maybe take a shot on Mark Reynolds or they might trade for a 3rd baseman. The Ethier, Kemp and Puig logjam in the OF has completely blocked Joc Peterson who could get you quite a return, possibly one better than Chase Headley who had a pretty down year in 2013 and is kind of undervalued. BTW, I suspect the demand for 3rd baseman will get even more higher and expensive in the upcoming months as the A-Rod mess continues and the Yankees start looking for options at 3rd base.
I can definitely see Trumbo being moved for starting pitching, although I'm guessing that whoever the Angels get back will disappoint their fans greatly lol.And while I don't see a deal happening I did hear rumors about how Seattle was interested in trading for Kemp. Obviously the Dodgers would have to eat most of his contract (as you said) but the Dodgers could get a nice prospect in return.
Lol very true on Angels. Whoever they bring in is bound to disappoint. Very surprised they just let Vargas walk, although Royals overpaid for him like crazy. I think Royals are the bigger losers there than Angels are for that one.Because there are no game changing free agents that fill any of Dodgers' pitching or infield needs (well there's Cano, but he and his $300 million demand can fuck off), I feel like Dodgers aren't urgently seeking to clear capspace, so I think Kemp is safe from being traded for a prospect... for now. If Mariners want to give up Kyle Seager so we can reunite him with his brother, then they would have themselves a deal, but Dodgers are just a few pieces away from winning a World Series (hell Vegas has us as the favorite already) and it would be stupid to start rebuilding before we even get to that stage.I think our best trading chips would be our pitching prospects like Zach Lee (who fans and executives overrate), Reed, and maybe Javy Guerra or Stephen Fife. Either way, if Uribe isn't taking a one year deal with us, we have got to scavenge the trading blocks for third basemen, and you can scratch Freese off that list. This would be so much easier if Hanley wanted to play 3rd since there are so many more quality SS out there than 3Bs, but we all know what happens when we take the SS spot away from Hanley. What's ironic about that whole thing is that Hanley WAS a 3rd baseman when we traded for him last year, which is why we stopped pursuing Headley, and then Headley blew up in the second half of that season. And hell, we MAY even have to look for a new second baseman as well, as Colletti has reminded us Guerrero might not even be our starting second baseman in the majors right away. If that ends up being the case then we're kind of fucked, since we waived Mark Ellis' option and we won't even consider Cano. Kinsler's off the market, unless Detroit signs Cano, in which case I hope they giftwrap Kinsler to us lol. Daniel Murphy from the Mets maybe? Colletti has always had a hard-on for that guy for some reason. This is going to be one crazy ass offseason for Dodgers.

It's just that Kemp really didn't do much for the 2013 Dodgers who were able to get to the NLCS without him. If they can flip him for a guy who can actually help it might make all the difference in the future. Kemp for Iwakuma?
