Anybody miss baseball this time of year?
« on: November 23, 2013, 06:43:29 PM »
Football is great on Sundays but it sucks every other day of the week.  Seems like there is just nothing to talk about during the week.  I mean... "Can the Chiefs open up the offense and score more points?  Should the Chiefs sign Alex Smith long term?  Do they have enough firepower to beat the Bronco's?"   That's the narrative every single week it's really boring for sports around here, and we don't have an NBA team so I don't really follow the NBA at all until the playoffs.

Baseball is great because everyday there is something new to talk about.  Nearly every day there is a game being played and something to talk about from the night before and the upcoming game.  162 of them.  Really makes the summertime great.  Anybody else miss baseball season?

Always. If nothing else it's at least something to watch/or listen to on any given day. Nothing quite like the grind of a baseball season.

naah, basketball is usually good around this time of year, when teams are figuring themselves out, and having a fantasy team makes watching other teams games even more interesting

regular season baseball is boring to me...too many games, they should shorten the season

Not really. I'd rather bitch, moan, complain and most importantly speculate how the Yankees are going to be a old and mediocre 75-80 win team that finishes 4th in the AL East than have to see/hear them actually be a old and mediocre 75-80 win team that finishes 4th in the AL East.

So you're going to make all your assessments about the sport of baseball based on how your team has been for the last few seasons

Yes. Doesn't everybody?

Okay in all seriousness, I guess I was referring to the MLB rather than baseball itself.
I mean right now there are several baseball related things going on like the free agent signings, Hot Stove rumors and the Venezuelan Winter League. And I've got to admit that I really miss going to MINOR league baseball games. I went like 4 or 5 times a week this past summer to various Yankees MiLB affiliates and boy was it fun.

WHY DONT U PICK AN NBA TEAM AND FOLLOW THEM? SERIOUSLY, NBA BASKETBALL IS INTERESTING YEAR-ROUND......CONSIDERING UR LOVE FOR THE COAST AND L.A.M.B AFFILIATION, LAKERS WOULD BE A GOOD CHOICE TO FOLLOW. PLUS, KOBE'S ONLY GOT ABOUT 3 YEARS LEFT IN HIS CAREER....FOLLOW THE FINAL YEARS OF THIS GENERATIONS GOAT (AND POTENTIAL ALL-TIME GOAT) AND DONT REGRET MISSING OUT ON A LEGENDARY CAREER WHEN HE'S GONE 8)

Yep I miss baseball a lot right now. Football is stressful as fuck being an SF fan in Seattle. At least SEA fans shut the fuck up come spring and don't hassle me.

I'm craving garlic fries and $8 coors light.

That is rough. A few of my friends are SF fans and talked nonstop shit the last few years so needless to say they're never going to hear the end of it. What brought you to Seattle?

everyone in KC is wanting the Royals to sign Carlos Beltran.  I would love to see him as the starting right fielder but this is just a pipe dream cause our owner is a cheap-ass, who runs Wall-Mart, by the way.  Beltran started out his career here.  They are also talking about trading Billy Butler (which I don't really care either way on that, he's fat and lazy but I hate to see them trade away homegrown players who have developed into solid contributors).  They also want the Royals to get a second baseman but I'm a big fan of Emilio Banafacio.

Anyway.. that about sums up all the baseball news around here.... wish there was more to talk about, can't wait till spring training.

I go to a billion dodger games a year , so it's hard to miss.

I only really miss Football and Basketball.

I love baseball and all but it's on a lot , plus it's such a summer sport there's no way in hell i'd want to watch a Snowy game.
