How is literally laughing at their performance motivating? Are you serious? When you pour your heart and soul into something and then it's laughed at, you feel motivated? I know you're a Kobe guy, but you have to be real. This isn't about D'Antoni vs Kobe. This is the rest of the team staying motivated vs Feeding Kobe's ego.
That's not how D'Antoni took it and I'm sure almost all the team took it the same as him. It's a snicker at end of him saying we weren't gang busters. Not a good look.
Tell me how many mentally tough guys are in this league? You have to know your surroundings. Kobe did not make himself aware. He spoke. D'Antoni fired back.
i really don't get what the big deal is. we're talking about men going to battle , they should go into everything with tough skin, leaders should call out their underlings and treat them like men . these aren't kids that should be cottled and given a trophy for effort. to me you want your leaders to be like king lionidus from 300......not the soccer mom who brings everyone punch .
That's wishful thinking. Between AAU, High School and even College programs treated all these kids like Kings, it's unrealistic to think that they would be able to handle their leader laughing at them. It used to be where 9 in 10 were tough. There's hardly any tough guys left. Everyone wants to be the man and don't want to hear anything else.
he wasnt "laughing at them", you're making more of it than perez hilton would, relax

The perception of some Radio Hosts and obviously D'Antoni was that he was having a good time at their expense. You're looking at it from a Kobe Fan Club perspective. By the reaction of D'Antoni, the rest of the team does agree with you.
