But it's two different conversations... one is what do, I, as an individual fan feel makes a good record and the other is what do, I, feel has the potential to make a hit record. I think having great music is one thing but presenting said music in a way where enough of the music-buying public gets excited enough to purchase it is where platinum albums come from. For instance, the whole "Get off the Block" versus "Bang On Em" thing?  I don't think those are records that included or excluded influence the initial wave of buyers. But that might also just be 3:30 a.m. on Saturday night talking here too.

Dope album - Prince Ital Joe added some dark atmosphere. It didn't reach even gold cuz of video clips - Daz had only one. For example Chronic had 3 and one unused - the same with Doggystyle, Dogg Food etc.
I think that was a reason why Death Row didn't reach platinum after 97'. RRGB had a chance for gold, Chronic 2000 for platinum and Against the Grain for gold/platinum.

Yeah, Prince Ital Joe most definitely did his thing on "Our Daily Bread".

I think you are way over-rating videos.  Videos don't matter if they never get airplay.  If they weren't gonna show any love to a sure-fire, bonafied hit like "In California" then the other joints definitely wouldn't have gotten any love either.

Btw, Dogg Food only had 2 videos, right?
