I have the regulate one but it only has one version of the song as well as "loyal to the game" , "pain" and a song by lord g called "monie right" (i think it was spelt like that?) my dad actually randomly bought me that cd. I was like 13 at the time.

All the newbies don't appreciate just how hard it was to get some of these CD's and tapes. The internet was non existent, most people didn't even have computers. Back in 1992 for example, my mother had a typewriter. Store catalogs had around 10 of these and 1 big brick computer.

I can remember I had to go to my local music shop and get them to 'order' the Dogg Pound album. They had Snoops Doggystyle in, and you could even get the Gin and Juice single, but trying to get individual singles in the UK was a bit difficult. There was nowhere to order from, other than the big ugly catalog from behind the desk in the music shop. If it wasn't in there, the only hope was in larger stores in the city's and even then, a lot of Hip Hop wasn't stocked other than pop rap (Will Smith, Coolio etc.)

It used to drive me crazy that I couldn't get those Pac songs on CD (this was before Napster, etc.). Especially "Pain."

Yeah.. that didn't make any sense.  "Pain" was a great song, and I think it was the opening song to the movie.  Why would it not be on the soundtrack?  It's on the tape only.. was this to make it somehow more rare and exclusive?

Also... another thing I never liked was that they didn't put the version of "California Love" on All Eyez On Me that was Pac's biggest hit ever.  I mean that song blew up even bigger than "Dear Mama" did at the time.  It worked well for eventually selling the "How Do You Want It" maxi-single.. but when you think about 2pac's legacy, All Eyez On Me is probably the greatest album of All-Time so it was really important to Pac's legacy that they put the best version of "California Love" on the album

Cali Love was not on AEOM because they wanted to make the How Do U Want It single sell more so people could hear Hit Em Up at the end

As far as I remember, the Above The Rim CD was around the 80 minute mark without the bonus tracks. Also, tapes were the common thing at that time, The Chronic had Bitches Ain't Shit as a tape bonus only (I think), Murder Was The Case had tape only bonus tracks too.

still no excuse to not find room for those 2 songs.  woulda made the OST even better.

Yes it is good excuse because back then all the could put on a CD was 80 minutes of music unlike today.  Tapes had more room on them then CD's back then . So that is why they had bonus tracks on the tapes.

No,because that is main songs they wanted on the soundtrack . No, I won't get fuck out of here.  It not about what you want . It was about what they wanted you to hear.

Same here on my CD, but I think originally it was only on the tape version and then the second batch of CD's had it.

This one was released under "Music From Above The Rim" in 1994. Pain and Loyal To The Game also appeared on the maxi CD "Regulate". Nothing special.

I'm pretty sure it only appeared on the maxi CD. Not too many people had that one where I'm from.

europe? ;)

lol But yeah, Europe. Even though I would doubt that in Maine you had more possibilities for buying music than I had in Berlin. ;)
