The Outlawz on the UTEOT Album

Just bumped UTEOT straight through for the first time in a while. This is definitely the best of the posthumous releases. A few tracks were released in basically their original state (like LastOnesLeft) and the majority of the songs had beats that sounded like authentic Tupac music.

I noticed that the Outlawz went really hard on UTEOT: their verses are real polished, they go hard, AND they're really dissing niggas. I noticed Napoleon dissing Jay-Z in one verse, but all of the Outlawz seemed angry and hungry on that album. What was the deal with the Lawz in 99? Were they really beefing and dissing dudes or was it just done to get into the spirit of tracks like Breathin and All Out?

It's true that the Lil Mo guest appearance is a disgrace, and the remix of Thug N Me sounds pretty retarded too. But compared to the other posthumous Tupac albums, UTEOT has a relatively low ratio of wack songs to authentic songs.

Also, the remixes of Until the End of Time and My Closest RoadDoggz are pretty solid, equal to or better than the OGs. The OG of Until the End of Time was a cool relaxed song, but the remix was an epic single.

Ballad of a Dead Soulja, Until the End of Time, Happy Home, Lil Homies, Letter 2 My Unborn etc. This album contains great and fucked up remixes. Death Row/Amaru should put all this project in Johny J's hands, he's doing his thing better than anyone. Worst remixes always come from EDI

UTEOT is a solid project, and could have been a classic but too many remixes tried too hard to sound current at the time and it didn't really mesh well with Pac's style.

I prefer R U Still Down, and even Better Days.

Yeahhhhh I might have to disagree with you on that.

Well, the Lawz were never especially clever with their lyrics, but they at least had a lot of passion and intensity on the UTEOT album.

I like EDI's verse on Breathin, Napolean's on All Out, Noble's on U Don't Have 2 Worry...they went hard.

God rest his soul, but JJ's posthumous shit was overrated as hell.  While I don't expect him to necessarily create something better than the OG beats (though that really never happened even once in his case, which is sad), nothing he really remixed (and I mean a complete re-do of the beat, not just like an OG vibe or something) really got my attention... some other producers were able to do that on Better Dayz (like When We Ride on Our Enemies, Street Fame, Thugz Mansion, etc.).  People really only gave props to JJ's posthumous beats after hearing the shit that Eminem did.

But I agree about EDI, that guy should never have been allowed to touch any Pac beats.  At least Eminem did it for free and didn't take any money for it, and only did damage to scrapped pre-Death Row songs.
