Damn Moneyball wasn't kidding, Athletics truly are the cheapest team in the league.

How'd I miss this topic? Shit was ridiculous. That place is just a mess in general, last year when the M's were there the septic system went out and toilets were overflowing and shit (pun intended). The funny thing about the A's is, smart baseball people putting together a solid product in a complete shithole, which is pretty much dead opposite to the Mariners.

Well the A's have been looking to escape Oakland and move to San Jose for a while. Only the Giants are standing in their way.
That said, the A's are the well run organization that they are because they adjust their team to their shitty ballpark. Guys like Parker, Milone, Gray and the rest of their pitchers do a hell of a job not allowing any home runs in O.co (and on the road too) plus the A's mold their defense specifically to assist their pitchers. The AL-West equivalent of the Tampa Bay Raypists.

As embarrassing as the situation was, I don't think it speaks much on their chances of winning a title. The team looks amazing every year. Then again, so do Braves, and we all know 150% that that team ain't winning no title.

Oakland will fall in the playoffs like every time they make it there

i have nothing against them...it's just in their nature to lose in the playoffs now

I agree on the stadium thing, but to me the team never really looks that great. People always pick the Angels and Rangers in the AL West yet the A's have owned them the last few years. IMO it's not a very impressive roster on paper but they obviously know what they're doing.

imagine if they had went after Fielder instead of the Rangers

then they'd look legit with a 50 HR guy   (well, 40 in that stadium)

True but you can say that about a LOT of teams, such as Texas, Detroit (even though people are scared of them every year), and especially Atlanta. There's teams that just have the play-offs loser stigma attached to them. Hell, Atlanta has that stigma in basketball and football too lmao.

They never really pay big money for anyone though, which makes their successes that much more impressive.

I think their line-up is very impressive, but I would have to agree that their pitching rotation does not look intimidating at all. That boy Sonny Gray is gonna be ridiculous though.

the Braves fans can at least appreciate 1995.  Everyone was robbed in 1994 of course.  Thomas, Griffey and Bagwell could have hit 60 homers that year  (at least one is clean, right? lol)  Tony Gwynn was hitting .394 at the time of the strike, what if he had a few great games and then the strike happened?  would he be recognized for hitting .400?   Maddux was having the best season ever and several teams can claim they would have won the title.  Especially Montreal, Atlanta, NYY, Chi-sox and Cincy.

As for Detroit's recent playoff history..i'm mad at them for not beating the Red Sox last year.  fucking bums.  They had a MUCH better roster.  As did the Cardinals and Dodgers.  smh.

Yeah forreals about the 94 strike... if Montreal went on to win the title that year, they might actually still have a baseball team lol. D.C. needed a baseball team though so maybe it was for the best.

And yeah Detroit is the ultimate letdown. I rooted for them last year again Red Sox, and I rooted for them the year before that against Giants. They can't get shit done.

Eh, on paper their lineup doesn't really look that imposing to me when you stack it up to other teams. But like I said, they know what they're doing.
