(MLB) Russell Martin & Martin Maldonado Charity Fight?

So two days ago the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Milwaukee Brewers got into a little scuffle after Gerrit Cole started yelling at Carlos Gomez for being a Latino.
Now Russell Martin (the everyday catcher for the Pirates) has challenged Martin Maldonado (some no name on the Brewers) to fight in the offseaon for charity after calling out Maldonado for throwing punches while no one was looking, or some shit like that.

Obviously this won't happen since Martin could potentially lose millions on the free agent market (he's a free agent after this season) and so far it looks like Maldonado is avoiding this like a pussy. But if it did, who'd win? And would this fight be better than most charity fights? Because as we all know, fights that happen in baseball are way better than fights in other sports like hockey.

That whole brawl was bizarre as fuck. Cole overreacted, and then Gomez overreacted to him, and then it was on. Russell Martin would floor Maldonado though.

Dodgers need to get Russell Martin back, for some reason I don't trust Ellis' health long-term (even compared to Martin) and our back-up catchers are horrendous liabilities offensively.

lmao I haven't actually kept up with FedEx's metrics or even his stats (other than his .050 batting average), but I definitely have seen enough of him to know he's too much of a liability on offense. He simply cannot hit. There was a game against the Giants where he literally bunted every single time he was up to bat. It was fucking sad.

Because of this, he's an overrated prospect, but I will say this... his defensive upside is through the roof. He does need to learn to frame pitches better, but if you try to steal a base on him, you are fucking doomed. Without fail, I kid you not. This guy would be getting way more attention for his sniper arm if not for the fact that he's absolutely useless on offense.

I think he'll leave Pittsburgh if they miss the play-offs. For this reason I am glad Pirates are off to a shitty start, despite the fact that I like the squad and hate to root against them.

AJ Ellis is one of the most intelligent players in baseball, but he's also older than most people realize and shows serious signs of physical decline at the start of each year. I'd love to get Russell Martin back for some insurance. It's crazy how both Yankees and Dodgers put forth such a half-assed effort to get him to return, though I guarantee the current Guggenheim-Dodgers wouldn't have let that happen. Fuck McCourt's stingy ass.

I know about Federowicz's defensive capabilities (his defensive stats are incredible, although they're based on a small sample size) but personally I think you can do a lot worse than having him be a backup catcher. Partly because I'm sure the Dodgers' juggernaut offense can afford to have one more dead bat in their lineup. Although on the other hand the Dodgers lineup appears to be Yasiel Puig and 8 other guys who aren't Yasiel Puig, which isn't exactly ideal.

For whatever it's worth the Pirates do have some catching options with Chris Stewart and Tony Sanchez, both will still be with the team next year. Unless Martin takes a significant pay cut, he just might be out of there. After all, the Pirates are the same team that were so cheap that they resorted to lowballing A.J. Burnett (and failed).

And speaking of ex-Dodgers the team/ownership was too cheap to keep around, thanks for letting go of Kuroda 8), he's been a rock even though everybody around here seems to only remember the second half of 2013.
