As a huge DJ Quik fan, this is embarassing... The song is one of his worst.

I feel the same way.

The truth is, Quik thinks he is a savvy business man who knows how to make music that will be in the top 40. He thinks this because this is what he once achieved.

Quik has an overly simplistic notion of what makes money these days. He said he signed Gift Reynolds basically because of how he looked. Looks aren't enough though. You can tell Quik thinks the same about his son: he looks like a star, looks like Quik, he will be a star.

The problem with Gift Reynolds and his son is that they have no charisma, no attitude, and say nothing memorable on tracks. They need to take lessons from Quik. Quik has swagger and attitude - he has it now and he had it on his old tracks.

Lines like "hoes ain't shit, ain't gon be, ain't never will be, and I'mma make you feel bad that you fucked me." That's classic Quik. Memorable, humorous, cocky - there's personality in it. AMG, Suga Free - these niggas exude personality. I don't hear personality in any of Gift Reynolds or his son's lyrics. It's just cookie cutter shit. And his son seems really self-conscious and uncomfortable in front of the camera.

Quik needs to focus on himself, put out more tracks with just him on them, and stop promoting wack rappers. Quik probably thinks this beat is going to make him accessible and attractive to young rap fans, but the reality is that they'll never hear this song, since it won't be played on the radio. Quik should make music for HIS FANS, not in the vain hope of attracting fickle young people.

Quik's son sounds like Nicky Minaj.

This beat sounds like it was made by a talentless teenager with a computer, NOT DJ QUIK.

Shameful.

WTF was that? I was excited to hear new Quik tracks but this is terrible. I hope this is for a Mixtape for his son or something, this should not be on a DJ Quik album. I have no problem with Bishop and Quik working together, Bishop has done some dope stuff in the past (he's much better than Gift imo) but the production is all wrong and Quik's son doesn't add anything to the track at all. I hope it's a throwaway that gets scrapped real quick, I'll just pretend like I never heard it. People who like this type of stuff are not looking out for Quik to make music like this and Quik fans don't wanna hear this type of shit from him. It's a lose-lose situation when he's out of his lane like this, it's pointless for him to do it... :grumpy:

The Track isn't a good track, but i support the artist.

I'm sure the new album is will be filled with good things..and we don't know if this track will be landed on the album..

Maybe its for David Jr mixtape..maybe this is a random video..

The most important is that DJ Quik is still relevant..all blogs are posting the video..and it's is good for DJ Quik legacy.

he is still remembered

The 2 snippets are better than this track..

But the Bass on this Trapped on The Track is perfect..few can do music like this today.

Yeah, I want to keep my support for Quik on this one and not go too overly negative so I'll just sum it up by saying this just ain't my type of track. I just don't enjoy that whole style of repeating some movie sample or sound byte over and over again for the chorus. Ain't no harm in trying new things though. Even the best artists aren't going to please their fans 100% of the time.
