NON PHIXION - FUTURAMA
Ill Bill: Originally, the first song was going to be "We Are The Future." It's funny 'cause that ended up being the last song on the album. Kurupt was actually supposed to be on "Futurama." I have a second verse on there and that was supposed to be Kurupt. It just didn't happen, I don't even remember what the science was. We built with him, he was into it, I sent him the track, but I don't know what came about. I will say if he had ended up being on the track, it probably wouldn't have been the first song on the album.
Goretex: "Futurama" was just like a summary of how futuristic things had become. When the group started, things like the Internet were just coming into place and were on the surface. The song was just a feeling I got where I could tell where technology was headed and the steps it was taking. I think some of the other guys in the group embraced technology a little more than I did; they were big on social media early and all that stuff that I was adamantly against until Bill kinda forced me to get on social media. I didn't think it was necessary but it was the topic of the day and we were in a new era where technology was growing at such a fast rate and you had to get with the program. The track just had a very futuristic vibe and we threw in elements of crime and bits about survival in the lyrics and talk about cyborgs—it painted a pretty cool picture, sort of like Animal Farm by George Orwell.
Sabac Red: Goretex's "Futurama" verse is dope. It's an incredible way to start off the album.
Goretex: [On the line "'Pac was framed/ They cloned him in the spot near the caves."] I can't say I believe that
2Pac
lived in Queens, but I've always felt that something was mysteriously weird with that whole case. I'll be honest with you, I wasn't like some major 2Pac fan—I always respected him for more of his background with his mother and the Black Panthers—so I respected his history first and I kinda came around to the music years later and realized Pac is actually a dope rapper. Do I believe he's alive? Yeah, I don't believe he's dead.
